More About Coach Jennifer

I played high school ball as freshman in varsity team in Texas. My positions were catcher and short stop. I received 6 college scholarship offers from major Universities including Texas A&M University across Texas and South. I have coached Asa fastpitch ages 12-16. I specialize in hitting techniques, catchers and pitching.

My experience has continued through my children's teams and now have just moved back to Texas, wanting to continue private lessons and ASA league Jr coaching.

Use a pitching machine or have the pitcher throw fastballs similar to batting practice
Show two camera angles for each hit: one behind the hitter to see where the ball goes, and one on the open side of the hitter to see their form
Film 6–10 hits
Fairness: Being honest and fair with players

Encouragement: Being encouraging and listening to players' concerns

Teaching: Teaching players how to work together on and off the field

Fun: Making sure the game is fun and not just about winning

Intangibles: Considering intangibles like body language and attitude

Work ethic: A strong work ethic is more important than superior softball measurables

Base cardio sessions, and they need to be able to throw at least 120 pitches without fading at all. Some will say that number should be as high as 160. That's your absolute #1 priority. By the time the season rolls around they should be throwing at least 100 full pitches 3x per week.
Warm up.
Pitch until you notice a breakdown in mechanics.
Take a short break.
Pitch again until your mechanics break down.
This should take around 45 minutes in conditioned players. If a pitcher cannot last 45 minutes, add conditioning exercises such as sprints to the practice.
Do not continue to pitch after the second breakdown.
