More About Coach Jeff

Availability in my profile refers to times I could meet online. I am available to set up online training plans, and not focusing on in person sessions at this time. Online training plans will be communicated to clients weekly, and support is offered via phone, text, and email.

I'm a current middle school teacher and high school coach (cross country and track & field), and a former college student-athlete. My focus is on consistent improvement over four years of a student athlete's career, and I carry that into my training with adults. At this time, I am not offering coaching services to kids or teenagers on CoachUp, as I am choosing to focus my energies on coaching my high school teams and adults who want to improve their running.

Consistent improvement comes from smart training, tailored individually, with paces that build a solid aerobic foundation for success in distance running. Additional training components, like injury prevention and improving the mental side of running, are also addressed in a training plan. ANYONE can be a runner! I tailor my approach based on your experience and goals. For some runners, that means including cross training or walk breaks in their training. For others, it might mean going through different training paces and workout cycles in order to run a big PR. Some runners like to race a lot, and others do not. It's all good! Flexibility in training is important, and as a coach, part of my job is to make adjustments based on the data you provide me.

Please send me a message if you are interested in working with me, even if no availability during the week is listed on Coach Up. If desired, I'm available to meet for personal workouts, but those are part of an overall training plan that I create. It is hard to quantify on Coach Up, but I will put together training plans for all event groups from 100 meters up through the distance events, and the long jump and triple jump.

I enjoy taking my athletes to the next level, whatever that means to them. Whatever the "next level" is to you, my focus is on getting you there!

I hold a USTFCCCA Technical Certification and USATF Level 1 Coaching Certificate, and I'm a member of the MSTCA.

Division III student-athlete in college: cross-country and track & field; high school student-athlete. 3:58 PR for 1500 meters. 2:53 marathon PR.

Please send me an e-mail and we can work out the finer details: I can write a plan and provide e-mail support, or write a training plan and arrange a time to meet for specific workouts throughout the training plan. Please note that during the school year my availability is limited to meet personally. All athletes are set up with an online training log and will be expected to provide updates so I can adjust the training plan if needed.

We engaged Coach Jeff to give training for our 9-year old son. Our boy was less-than-eager UNTIL he met Coach ! In the first training session he immediately started learning how to improve his running mechanics, and left the session enthusiastic about more training.

My 11 year old son is trying to get his speed back after an injury last year. He had his first workout with Jeff trying and loved it. Jeff kept him engaged and excited, and after an hour of working on sprints, he was tired, but happy and had a great time. I highly recommend Jeff as a coach for any age.

I am a 39-year-old (almost 40) runner, looking to improve time and prevent injury.

Coach Jeff is excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, humble, specific in offering feedback, willing to answer any and all questions, and timely with communication. (He's also a really clear communicator, which I appreciate.) I feel very fortunate to have found him. One in-person session feels like it's already reaped benefits. I've already signed up for more. Highly recommended!

Coach Jeff is great. He is well prepared and so knowledgeable! We are lucky to find him, and we will definitely continue the training with him.

Coach Jeff is incredible. He’s uplifting and encouraging as well as inspiring. His love for running shines through in everything. He meets you where you’re at and helps you get to exactly where you’re going. His strength is in his slow approach. He’s all about the buildup. And he takes his time getting you to your goal distance or pace. Because he values quality over quantity. I would highly recommend him for runners of all ages and distances. He helped me across my first marathon finish line in fall of 2017 and I’ve already completed my second this spring, thanks to the foundation he helped me build! Thanks Coach Jeff!!

Jeff did a great job with my 12 yr old daughter, tailoring the session to her needs and level. Very easy to communicate with and very flexible in trying to understand our needs.

5 Star + rating!

Our teen aged son had (and continue) multiple training sessions with Coach Jeff and would highly recommend him to anyone interested in a motivated, challenging yet well balanced program. Jeff is not only a great coach that has multiple ways to work with his trainees. Jeff is a great role model for the sport he coaches.

You will always see Jeff setting up the equipment 15 min before the lesson begins. You get a full plan for training. You get great attention to the details. And you also get feedback after the end of the practice. Very well managed program. And programs are quite good especially if you can allocate time for more than a series of lessons (long term).

Lastly, Jeff is exceptional when it comes to utilizing the resources of the CoachUp site. Scheduling, feedback, everything is highly useful. By utilizing their tools incredibly effectively, Jeff "in-directly" promotes the service of the web site. Hope this gets noticed by CoachUp web masters too!

Great coach, patient and knowledgeable. My 14 yo son felt very comfortable following his lead, will def book again!

Coach Jeff is an amazing coach. Every session I have with him flies by, and during the week he keeps me enthused through my practice. His prices are not outrageous, and I feel like my goals are within reach. I definitely recommend Coach Jeff.
