More About Coach Jake
I have coached at the club level for 9 years mainly at the 16U/18U levels. I have been giving hitting lessons to athletes all over the metro for the last 7 years. I am also an assistant coach at Hamline University. I like to teach hitting but also stress a lot on footwork and proper mechanics for fielders. I am open to working with all age groups, I like to simplify things so my teachings can be equal among the different age groups.
I was a college athlete for Bethel University. I played three years of baseball for the Royals before my career was ended due to an elbow injury. I then transitioned to coaching at Hamline my senior year and have been there ever since.
I like to break sessions into segments. I like to start from the ground up and build throughout the session. Step by step of the swing and or fielding/throwing mechanics. I am a huge fan of using video in order to teach athletes. Our world has turned into a very visually based one and I have found athletes learn better when they see themselves. I like the mechanics of the sport but I do not like to make every athlete I work with identical. No robots in any of my training sessions are allowed. I like to maximize your natural abilities. I do both 1 on 1 and group sessions.

Coach Jake showed up on time with all equipment necessary to instruct my son how to correct flaws in his swing. He was personable, informative and knowledgeable. Time will tell if his suggestions make a difference in my sons ability to drive the ball. Hopefully one session is all that we will need. Money well spent.
