More About Coach Ian

I have roughly eight years of coaching experience and I played organized lacrosse for nearly 15 years. I have coached youth teams in both the Raleigh and Charleston area and have conducted hundreds of one on one lesson with players at all skill level. I began coaching at the lower school level and of recent have helped provide rising freshman in college with skill development for the next level.

As a member of the Hampden-Sydney varsity lacrosse program, I was voted a team captain for the 2017-2018 season, a Scholar All-American, 2x USILA All-American, 3x All-ODAC selection, 2017 All-tournament team, Second in all-time points, and I currently hold the single season scoring recording at HSC.

Each client is different, so there development/sessions are going to be different. First and foremost, its important to discuss their individual goals and build a framework for how we are going to achieve those goals. Second, I put a strong emphasis on fundamental development and lacrosse IQ. Lastly, an understanding that lacrosse is a fast sport, so to be a top performer there must be a focus on speed and strength development.
Typical Session:

Warm up: 10 mins
A focus on muscles that are going to be heavily used in our workout
- If a session involves a lot of shooting, our stretches will focus on back muscles.

Stick work:
- Wall ball, In-tight passing, Drills that focus on muscle memory.

Main Work Out:
- This portion either invovles intensive shooting/finishing around the net or an emphasis on dodging and creating for your teammates.

Conditioning: 10-15 mins
- A variety of work outs to help build functional strength and speed. Workouts will be collected from college coaches and former players. My goal is to teach my athletes functional movements that they can take with them throughout their Athletic careers.
