More About Coach Ian
I am a qualified soccer goalkeeper coach from the UK, currently based in Columbia, MD. I am currently the Head of Goalkeeper Development at the Soccer Association of Columbia (SAC) as well as running a Goalkeeper Academy for Challenger Sports. I have coached all ages and abilities throughout soccer, as well as working for the largest national soccer coaching company in the US. I work with any age goalkeepers, whether the is developing their fundamentals of the position, or taking a high school goalkeepers game to the next level. I am an FA qualified coach from the UK, and well as holding Goalkeeper licenses in the US.
In the senior year at college at the University of Lincoln in the UK, our team finished third in the British National Division 1. I was not only the college goalkeeper, but also the Vice President of the team and voted as Players' Player of the Season (2009). I also played semi-professionally as a goalkeeper in the UK.
The sessions that Goalkeepers can expect from me will be very technical, fine tuning each individual movement to perfect each technique and skill required to be a Goalkeeper. I will put a goalkeeper through their paces with a range of drills and movements, with the ultimate aim of improving them physically and mentally, and preparing them for to step into the next level. After a physical warm-up (both with and without ball-work) I will then move onto a technique based activity, followed by an activity that combines one or more skill or technique to create combination movements and actions. Finally I will finish with a lighter, more fun activity that let's the Goalkeeper enjoy Goalkeeping. This is typically a fun Coach v Keeper activity.. I will finish with a cool-down.
