More About Coach Giles
I have experience coaching both middle and high school students at the goalkeeper position. My experience consists of individual training sessions and group training sessions. I worked at various different NCAA Division I ID camps, where I coached age groups 12-18. At these camps I ran group training sessions while individually evaluating each player, identifying key strengths and weaknesses. For older age groups, I provided feedback to coaches on which players I believe had the ability to be recruited for specific universities. My passion for coaching comes from seeing young players develop while also helping them build a healthy relationship with soccer!
The highest level of soccer that I competed in was NCAA Division I soccer at Clemson University (2021 graduation). At Clemson, I won various championships including the 2021 NCAA Division I National Championship and 2 ACC Regular Season Championships. Our team spent many weeks ranked #1 in the country and is considered one of the elite programs in NCAA Division I Soccer. Prior to my collegiate experience, I played high school soccer and futsal. At the high school level, I was the captain of our varsity team and won multiple individual awards.
A goalkeeping client of mine can expect to develop their overall technical skills with an emphasis on the ability required to become a “modern goalkeeper”. The main pillars of my training will involve development in 5 key areas; handling, reflexes, footwork, positioning, and distribution. I have experience working with different levels of ability, meaning that individual sessions can be tailored to each client's skillset.
