More About Coach Eric

I started coaching soccer at PSG soccer academy in Macomb, MI. After that i coached at lil kickers. I currently focus on doing private soccer lessons. I specialize in working with children; I was a head-start teacher at OLHSA in Pontiac. I have my associates degree in early child hood education. I believe soccer teaches a lot: team work, working hard, and accomplishing goals. I have my E coaching license, which specifically pertains to soccer coaching. I have an eight year old son, who i teach the game of soccer to constantly. I pretty much live the game of soccer. My main specialty is coaching children, but i have worked with and trained all ages.

I have played soccer my whole life; I started when I was five years old. I've played on a variety of teams. I am very passionate about soccer. I played on traveling teams growing up, where i was a starter and lead scorer. I also played on J.V. and Varsity at Cadillac High school as well as in Berkley. I recently have trained at Rochester College. I competitively play soccer, but i also play recreational as well. I will never stop playing soccer. I currently play at total sports soccer, and ultimate soccer arena.

It is based off of age, as i coach as young as 4 years old. for the 4-7 years olds it is strictly fun. I just create fun learning games that will keep your child interested and active. I do different creative things to get the child to practice. we will stretch, and i will say reach way up high and touch the sky, then reach way down low and touch your toes. and i will gradually get faster as i we stretch. At they age they will learn toe touches, passing with the inside of their foot, to shoot with their laces, to stop the ball with the top of their foot, and to love the game. As i work with children who are older i communicate effectively to help develop/create a love for the game of soccer. i will teach them how to juggle more effectively, and to do different moves such as heel flicks, and scissor kicks. I have cones to practice dribble with yr head up, and using both feet. we will work on the four major core of soccer (technical, tactical, physical, and endurance) i will show them how to do defensive pressure and cut off angles on defense, as well as educate as i physically teach them how to do it. I will explain why to cut off the inside and use the out of bounds line as a defender. (example)
Working on trapping the ball, one touch/first touch, and shooting once you are in the penalty box are some key fundamentals we will work on.

Client Reviews

My 2 kids (11 & 8) had never played soccer before and they both learned alot from coach Eric. He taught us some great drills to practice at home and game strategies. Coach Eric enjoys working with kids abd he has high engery. His feedback after each session was helpful. I would use him again as a coach and would recommend him for any age soccer player.

Coach Eric did a great job with my 9 year old son. The one on one attention directed right at his skill level and age was perfect. My son learned so much in just one session. After session one he went on to play an amazing game with new found confidence. We can't wait for the next session with coach Eric.

Coach Eric was really great with our 11 year old daughter. He helped her gain confidence with each practice. Is routine and strategy for teaching was refreshing and tailored to meet her goals. Great experience.

Coach Eric is a very good coach. I believe my confidence went up with my few sessions with him. He's very good at teaching. Lets one know what they need to work on and how to work on it.
I'd definitely recommend him.

Coach Eric is a great coach my son is enjoying practicing with him and is already getting better at his weaknesses. If you are looking for a coach to help you get better outside of practice with your regular team coach Eric is great for it

Coach Eric is an awsome coach, he notices your weaknesses and work on them, give you tips to improve your form and his tips are easy to follow to achive the perfect form. He have a good experience with match tactics, so he not only teachs you to be a better stronger athlet, but also how to be a smart one by doing the right thing in the field and to react quickly and postively to each situation.

You read these reviews and you just don't know. We went ahead and booked a session with Eric for my 14yr old son. Well the first words out of his mouth when we walked away after the lesson were "I learned more in that one hour than I have in whole seasons of playing". I couldn't have been happier. Eric is a great guy, easy to set up sessions with, on time and professional but fun. We are booking another session.

I am thrilled to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Eric Santana...I have had the pleasure of getting to know Eric since I met him in 2013. As Coordinator and Professor of Early Childhood Education, I had the pleasure of working with Eric as he pursued his education at Oakland Community College. Eric has demonstrated a vast understanding of child development and how to best incorporate developmental appropriate practices into a classroom. Through our classroom interactions, I have been able to ascertain his knowledge of the field. It goes beyond just everyday curriculum ideas. For example, Eric recognizes how he can be supportive to families with children who have special needs, such as stressful home lives. In class, he has often shared situations where he has helped families to access the resources that they needed to best serve their family. Moreover, Eric understands how much trusting relationships play an integral part in children’s development; and he knows how to use appropriate adult –child interaction strategies to meet the needs of all the children in his care. Eric has shown a genuine interest in teaching children and working with families of all backgrounds. His keen sensitively in this area places him in the top among my early childhood education students. It’s uncommon to find such extraordinary talent and skill juxtaposed with true authentic passion and dedication for families, the community, and the field of education.
