More About Coach Eric

In May of 2013 Holzheimer, along with Head Diving Coach Todd Mulzet founded the CAL Diving Club (U.C. Berkeley).

Since then, Eric is a current high school coach in both San Ramon (Dougherty Valley HS and Cal High) as well as for the Napa Unified School District at both Vintage HS and Napa HS. Prior to that, Eric was the head diving coach for 6 local high schools (Acalanes, Campolindo, Clayton Valley, College Park, Las Lomas, and Miramonte). Six divers from that 2013 squad qualified to compete in the North Coast Section Championships. Since that first squad, Eric has had numerous divers qualify for NCS and SJS sectional championships in 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well as divers that went on the the State finals.

Holzheimer has been a youth sports coach for more than 35 years across myriad sports. Most recently, both springboard diving (men's and women's) and women's lacrosse (goalie coach) at the JV and Varsity high school levels. A few of the other sports he has coached over the years include: gymnastics, trampoline, water polo, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, volleyball, and of course diving.

Holzheimer was an all-around athlete and multi-sport athlete in high school and college. He was a trampolinist for almost 10 years, a diver for 6 years, a gymnast for almost 13 years, and played water polo for 7 years.

1. Assess student's physical & mental abilities compared to their goals
2. Set a roadmap to accomplish those goals
3. "Fun"damentals & progressive advancement

A typical session (60-120 minutes) and depending on the level of athlete, consists of:
a) 15-30 minute stretching and conditioning
b) 15-30 minutes of approaches and line-ups (possibly side-work)
c) 30-60 minutes working on diving progressions in a particular direction each day
i) front, back, reverse, inward, twist
ii) for example, day-1, 1-meter: 101c, 102c, 103c, 104c, 105c, 106c, 107c (you're a beast)
iii) day-2, 3-meter: 201b, 202b, 203b, 204b, 205b, 206b, 207b (if you dare)
d) if the diver is getting ready for a meet, we would work on list organization, run through of list, mental preparations, dive transitions and focus

In addition to pool-time, Eric has access to a complete dryland training center through the CAL Diving Club

Client Reviews

Coach Eric is a fantastic diving coach!! He has many years of experience, and it really shows. He works very well with kids, and had my daughter engaged and relaxed right away. He is very patient and gives detailed critique after every dive. Our session with Eric was incredibly valuable. We learned so much from his instruction both in the water and dry land. He is very precise in his explanation of what he would like the diver to try. We will definitely be working with Eric again in the future. I would not hesitate to recommend him without any reservations to other divers. We are so grateful that we found him!!! Margaret S.

Coach Eric is fantastic! He understands how to develop young divers. We have done both dry training as well as in-pool training.
