More About Coach Elise

For the past 5 years now, I have been coaching and privately and at the collegiate level for the New York Film Academy College of Visual & Performing Arts. At the New York Film Academy (NYFA), I started both programs from scratch and have both team competing competitively. Using my background in psychology and experience as a high-level player, I help my athletes develop the fundamental volleyball skills to become a better athlete, in addition to valuable life skills, such as mental toughness, willpower, strength, diligence, motivation, and work ethic.

I have a IMPACT/CAP certification from USA Volleyball. I work with any athlete, regardless of age; I have experience coaching young athletes (8 years old) to adults.

I have played volleyball for 15 years now, from grade school to the collegiate level. I’ve participated in several USA Volleyball High Performance Camps and Tournaments from 2007-2010 during my high school career as well as attending the State Tournament my senior year. I played collegiate volleyball at Elmhurst College, where we competed in the NCAA Final Four 2012 and were ranked within the top 5 in the nation. My teammates saw me as someone who had great ball control, composure, and a strong leadership presence and work ethic.

Before the session starts, I want to know the client's goals, what he/she wants to improve on specifically. I will start with the basics, bumping, setting, spiking, serving, and assess what skill level the player is at. Once I know the client's skill level, I will know what drills to use. Additionally, seeing the skill level and age level, I will assess how I can push the client to become better, using motivation and pushing the client to work hard.

Client Reviews

My daughter enjoyed her time with Elise. ELISE gave her some helpful tips on how to improve her game. She’s looking forward to more sessions.

Great instructor

BEWARE! I ignored the bad review about Elise not showing up thinking it was a one time thing. She canceled our first session. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and rescheduled for the next day. Then she canceled again saying she had car problems (same as another reviewer). I said we'd pay for her Uber/Lyft both ways. She said she had a bad experience with Uber. I offered to pay for a taxi both ways, but no. She said she would find a replacement through CoachUp and never communicated with me after that until I followup up hours later. She then blamed CoachUp for the mistake.

Harper had a great time and is excited for another lesson!

I continue to love working with Elise. The thoughtfulness with which she approaches our lessons is remarkable. We spend time individually drilling skills. But separate and apart from that, realizing that I don't play in a team, she really tries to incorporate segments that approximate playing as much as possible; so that I have that experience and also can better track the development of my skills. I have vastly improved in the short time we have trained, even though my schedule has made training sporadic at times. She continues to encourage me to maximize my potential, and her attitude at all times is cheerful and fantastic, even when my schedule forces us to train earlier than usual :-)

Coach Elise only showed up to the first session. The next week she sent a text a couple of hours before the scheduled session and said her fairly new car would not start and couldn't make it. Then the next week two hours before the session was to start she sent a text saying she had a 103 degree temperature and wouldn't make the session. I let her know this was unacceptable and she stopped communicating with me. CoachUp, you still owe me 4 sessions. Please contact me.

Fantabulous first session! Seeing progress already!

Great experience. Elise has a coaching ability combined with the love of the sport. Made training fun, brought my game onto a higher level in a short period. Focus on basics but ready to jump into a game when the oppotunty presents itself.
