More About Coach Eddie
I work with private clients along with active boxers. Those trying to make the golden gloves and current golden glove contenders and those who just want to get a workout. I do home visits if its in manhattan and if its convenient. I also have access to boxing gyms in the borough where I go along with my clients and sometimes boxers contact me to go do some pad work with them and also work on techniques with them. I boxed on and off as an amateur but couldn't continue due to a personal reason. After that I dedicated volunteering at gyms continuing my education in the sport furthering what I learned from coaches on to people that I taught.
I work with Men, Women and Children. One on one sessions and small group sessions. I teach techniques, proper form and I love acting out situations that can happen in a ring to show the client what are they learning and why. I find that it is very important to target different areas and educating to help the athlete the client to understand what they are doing and the importance of what they are doing like I just mentioned.i love working with kids one big reason because of the confidence builder but also they learn the discipline and they are evolved in an activity I stead of getting themselves into trouble outside on the streets. I also mentioned that I work with women. Women come to me for the workout and for self defense which is major for a woman to gain. I love to leave a client with the thought that their trainer/coach/teacher cares when we are done with a session.
My sessions start with me introducing myself if its their first day. From there I will explain what they will learn then we do stretching. Static stretching where the client is not really moving and then we move into dynamic stretching where they use some movement. Very important for a warm up and they get to stretch. From there ill explain more on what we will be doing and in the order. Client will start off with foot work as far as balance, posture and techniques. From there we work out way into the boxers shuffle knowing how to be on your toes and moving around. Once I got them doing the basics with the feet all the punches and defense I love introducing mittology which is the Floyd Mayweather style of pad work which is a great way to work on posture, endurance, hand eye coordination, counter skills/punching-defense, core strength and reflex and timing. I specialize in this style of pad work of course I work the traditional way but I love to teach that hit and don't get hit style I believe it is affective and clients love it. After the first session the client gets a great workout, great gain in knowledge of the sport and what they want to accomplish. Especially with the mittology that I learned from my friend and youtube sensation Coach Rick my clients can't get enough of that system!
Boxed on and off for four years 2002 - 2006 in the amateur level.
Helped amateur boxers prepare for events and golden glove fights.
Currrently working with boxers and with white collar boxers to prepare them for a charity boxing event they're participating in Nov of this year!
Typical first session with me starts off with wrapping hands and talking about what we will be doing. Then a warm up to test your cardio. After cardio e will go over the boxing stance and boxing shuffle/footwork I like to make sure the foundation is worked on before we jump into hitting the mitts and the heavy bags. Once basics is covered along with techniques we will jump on to drills like the rope walk, mitt work, heavy bag and the speed bag and dater all of that for a beginner I'll make our cool down some light shadow boxing utilizing what we've learned!
