More About Coach Devyn
I have been coaching soccer for 10 years, ages 3-18. I have coached privately for goalkeepers and field players, as well as for local clubs, UNR Soccer Camps, and currently at Hug High School for my 3rd year. I typically work with players aged 10 and up but, am willing to coach anyone who wants to learn, this includes anyone over 18 as well. I do hold NFHS coaching certificates and actively working to obtain more. I read as much literature and watch footage as much as I can. I have my First Aid/CPR certification.
Senior year of high school I was awarded All Scholastic, All First-Team, All American, and MVP. I recorded the highest record saves as well. Sophomore year (2013) at Monroe College (NJCAA Div I) our team placed 5th in the National Tournament. Junior year (2014) at UNR (NCAA Div I), I recorded the highest number of saves for the season overall by 20. I also played for the Players North WPSL team in 2019. Currently, I still do play for the Women's and Co-Ed leagues for outdoor and indoor here in Reno.
They can expect to be challenged mentally and physically but be assured that all of their questions are answered. The type of session depends on if you're a field player or goalkeeper of course but, I focus a lot on footwork, ball handling, and game awareness. We always start with a warm-up that focuses on your entire body. Drills will get tougher as the session goes on but they always stick to one theme; better footwork with the ball, movement, passing, etc. Technique and form is very important to me so I will spend a lot of time working with the player on that. I will also ask the player questions about the session and make them think about what was worked on. The player should be ready to receive constructive criticism but also positive feedback. I always try to work them hard and get a good sweat in but I also want to have fun, self discipline and accountability reflects this outcome for themselves.
