More About Coach Debbie
I have about 5 years of coaching and training experience for players at the high school and collegiate level. I have experience working with young girls ages 7 to 18 and love being able to mentor these young players. I have also helped train players in the club ranks. I am constantly working on professional licensing and hold my USSF 'D' License along with my Goalkeeping Level 2 from United Soccer Coaches. I strive to bring a fun, empowering training atmosphere to your daughter(s) while working on the main principals: technique, tactics, competency/IQ, and fitness/agility. I focus on tailoring the sessions surrounding the player and their specific needs and goals.
Please find my private training page; Virago Soccer Training on insta or FB to communicate about training your daughter(s). Thanks!!
I played four years at the collegiate level at Grace Christian University (MI). There, I was a two-time All-American and held the career record for goals(53), assists(33), and points in a game(61). I also had the most goals in a season(27) and assists in a season(13). I was Grace's first four-time regional player candidate, 2016 regional player of the year, and 2016 National All-Tournament team selection. I led my team to runners up at Nationals in 2016. After that, I helped serve as an Assistant Coach for a season and a half which resulted in repeat appearances at Nationals and a National Banner in 2018.
My sessions usually involve drills tailored to technique (ball mastery), tactics, overall soccer/position competency, and fitness/agility components. However, I first get to know the player and understand their goals and desires for the session. Alongside their longterm playing aspirations. I have them give me their player strengths and then some weaknesses. From there, I utilize that newfound knowledge and create a session that tailors to them through repetition, game-like scenarios, player position techniques and tactics, and speed and agility. I also incorporate reactive drills as a warm-up to get them mentally and physically engaged.
