More About Coach David
I am the current head coach of the Kingswood Oxford Boys Junior Varsity Soccer team. Over the past four years, I have worked with younger high school soccer players, developing their foot skills, passing and shooting technique, and of course their conditioning.
In regards to conditioning, I am also a seasoned Track and Field Varsity coach. With the Track and Field squad, I regularly work with soccer players in the mid-distance events (400 and 800), developing their running form as well as their endurance and pacing technique. Two of my athletes last year won the 300 Hurdles and 400 meter dash in the New England Prep School Class C Finals.
As a final note, I have also worked with various soccer camps in the New England area, most notably coaching at the Connecticut Soccer School at the Westminster School.
I was a premier team player growing up, playing for West Hartford, Suffield, and Eastern Connecticut. In high school, I played for Kingswood Oxford's varsity soccer team, going through two rounds of playoffs. In my senior year, I was selected to the WNEPSA Senior All Star Team. As an adult, I have competed in multiple marathons and completed the 2012 Ironman Lake Placid.
In an hour session plan, I spend the first ten minutes focusing on warming up and practicing dynamic stretching. Staying hydrated is also important so we'll incorporate several water breaks into the workout. We will then spend fifteen minutes focusing on technical touch, trying to get as many touches on the ball as possible. Using a variety of fun drills, we'll work on in-step and "laces" touches as well as volleys, juggling, dribbling, and of course tricks to change direction effectively. Following these drills, we will spend the next twenty minutes working on game-time situations. Specifically, we'll practice shooting, passing, accuracy, 1 v 1 attacking/defending and position movement. To finish the session, the last fifteen minutes will be spent on a fun exercise that promotes fitness. As an ultra-runner and triathlete, I value fitness as something that's necessary for athletic growth, but also something that should be fun and enjoyable. So, to keep things fun and geared toward the game, we'll do sprint workouts that end in shooting, circuit training that incorporates volleying and passing, and interval-based runs that match real game time situations in regard to sprinting, resting, and jogging.

Working with Coach David was awesome! Today was my first game of the season, and the techniques he showed me were really useful. I loved learning small skills that influenced my playing on such a large scale. I'm very thankful for his willingness to share his expertise with me and I look forward to learning more from him soon!
