More About Coach Danny

I have been coaching gymnastics for ten years now. I have coached ages 4 to adult.
Both male and female through all ages. I, myself, trained in high school and have never stopped.
I'm a big fan of basics and foundations. I believe that a drill relative to a skill should be harder than the actual skill. Ideally a skill set is drilled over and over so that when put together to create a routine, the routine itself is ultimately easier to perform than the drills. I also believe that there is a drill and/or solution for every gymnast that reaches a block. I am very patient. If you trust me, i will get you over your obstacle.

I have coached with elite coaches. I have coached with toddler coaches. I have seen double backs and triple fulls, and most of the other flashy skills that make people drool. I have coached these skills, spotted, and even performed some of them myself. Ideally, no matter what the level or organization, be it JOGA, EXCEL, USAG compulsory, USAG optional, or USAIGC... there is no greater accomplishment than training your team or individual gymnast, growing with them as they get that much closer to their goal, going to competition-be it preliminary or finals- and watching them do their best like no one thought they were capable of. As a coach you take home a winner every time you go to a meet. That feeling was my greatest accomplishment and has been every time I take a team to perform.

In a session, we warm up. running, jumping, some light cardio(depending on the athlete), talking about game plans, things like that. Then we get into some stretching. Then a little skill training, but then back to specialized stretching(specific parts that may not be so limber). After that we go all out with skill training. I ask you for feedback on everything you do. We re-work some things you already have and some new things. As you start to fatigue, we bring it down a level and work on things that may not be so exhausting. A little more stretching. Some cool down and breathing exercises. A little more stretching and talking and....we're done.
