More About Coach Craig
XL Soccer World - Was a paid coach for this indoor soccer facility in Raleigh, NC. Would help coach team training's, summer camps, and games in the facility. Team training would be once a week and would focus on different type of aspect of the game each week. Summer camps would be all day long from 8-4pm and would do training sessions, fun games, and scrimmages with the campers throughout the day. For the games I would show up and would be given an XL team and would coach them for their game that day. Teams would change every week. Kids aged from 4-15. Worked at the facility from 2013-2015.
Greensboro United Soccer Association - Volunteered with group training once a week with the organization. Would help run different games and drills that the training that the kids would rotate through. Players aged from 10-15. Did this while playing college soccer at Greensboro College. Volunteered from 2012-2016.
Special Olympics - Volunteered with special needs children and adults that wanted to learn the basics of soccer. Would coach them once a week during the college soccer season. Would keep the drills fairly simple and fun to keep them enjoying the training. Worked with them every fall from 2012-2016.
East Wake Soccer Association - Volunteered during high school with several different large groups of kids. Would have several different stations that would focus on a specific drill and would have the kids rotate between all the drills. Kids aged from 3-7 years old. Did this from 2010-2012.
Greensboro College - 4 Time All-Conference selection in the USA South. Selected once to NCCSIA All-Region team. Division III level and competed from 2012-2015.
Carolina Railhawks U-23s - Semi-professional team out of Cary, NC. The team plays in the NPSL. Competed at this level during the summer of 2015.
I always start with a good warm up with every session to make sure the player stays loose and is properly stretched out to help prevent any injuries. After properly warmed up I will do simple technical ball drills to get them lots of touches on the ball. I will then try and push the player into more advanced technical drills to challenge their abilities. Next, I like to try and execute position based drills. This means drills that are more specific depending of whether or not the player is a forward, midfielder, or defender. To end each session I like to do a fun game with the player, followed by a cool down and stretch.
