More About Coach Chris

I have trained athletes from ages 10 to high school seniors off an on over the past 6 or 7 years. I was an assistant coach for the Auburn High School Varsity Men's Soccer team in 2008 and 2009 and helped lead them to the playoffs. Most of my coaching/training experience has come from private or small group lessons. I have also participated in multiple soccer camps coaching and training high school and middle school athletes. The camps were for the club team in Auburn, Alabama and I coached ages U12 to U18 in all sorts of aspects. I coached one-on-one sessions, small sided, and full field games. The camps lasted for weeks in the summer to prepare for the upcoming seasons. I coached kids in defensive drills, possession drills, one-on-one defending and attacking, shooting, passing, skills, and competitive game-speed scrimmages. I have also spent years doing private lessons for individuals and small groups. These lessons were designed to improve player's skill as well as knowledge of the game. I love to coach and teach and have been doing it for a total of 7 years now.

I personally played soccer from the age of 6 to the present with a majority of those years being at a highly competitive level. I played for multiple clubs in the state of Alabama from the age of 10 to 18. During these years my teams won multiple area and regional tournaments. I personally accumulated MVP awards from UAB soccer camp in Birmingham, Alabama two years in a row and received All-Star recognition at the camp three years in a row. I played varsity soccer in my high school freshman through senior year and was a captain sophomore, junior, and senior year. I received team MVP my senior year and we made it passed the first round of the play-offs each year that I was on the team. I played one year of soccer at Auburn University on the club team as a freshman. I was also team captain on all competitive clubs that I played for including Auburn Thunder (Auburn, AL); Capitol City Streaks (Montgomery, AL); Mountain Brook Thunderbolts (Birmingham, AL); and Valley Football Club (Huntsville, AL). I started on each and every competitive club and team that I played on and was a productive and necessary asset to each one of those teams. I was a strong player and had good skills, but more importantly I was a smart player and knew strategy of the game as well. I was a very valued player on all of my teams and worked very closely with my coaches in order to learn as much as possible about the coaching side of the game. I was a defensive player but offensively minded. I was a high scorer, good distributor and a great set piece player. I was a huge asset to every team I played on.

My typical session will consist of multiple sections. i first like to start with a little warm up and stretch. This can come in many forms from running a few laps to starting off with a skills game or even just a few plyometrics to get the blood pumping and the muscles moving. I then will move into the heart of the session. I focus a lot on conditioning and strength training as part of my regimen. individual skills paired with conditioning will be the meat of my sessions. An example of this might be pele drills paired with high knees and jump squats performed as a circuit. My reasoning behind drills like this is to push yourself past comfortability yet still having you focus on the skills needed. If you can perform at a high skill level when tired imagine what can be done when you are fresh. My sessions will always look different and keep you on your toes. At the end of each session we will do a larger conditioning activity as well as strength exercises. An example being quick ten yard sprints followed by crunches and push ups. Strength is a very important part of the game just as good touch is. I want to yeah you more than just how to dribble, pass, and shoot. I want to teach you how to be a strong athlete mentally and physically.
