One-on-one coaching depends on the goal of each session. With a swim workout you will have roughly a 5-8 minute warm up where you will swim any stroke you want to get the blood flowing. Followed by a drill set followed by a main set and a cool down that incorporates some drills.

Chris Holley is the complete coach. He not only has the knowledge and education, but has also done his own lifestyle transformation, and understands on a personal level the challenges most people face when it comes to making changes toward better health. Chris is patient, professional, and leads by example. His care and concern for clients is genuine. He takes time to really get to know the client and then coaches and programs according to their goals. Chris builds programs to fit the client rather than trying to fit the client into a set program. His authentic style and sincere desire to help others is reflected in the quality of his coaching. He brings out the best in his clients and helps them to reach their goals whether its better health, endurance training or a combination.
I am a long time experienced runner and just last year I decided to start the "tri thing". As I think with many, the one thing scaring me the most was swimming. I put off the Triathlon Club's Beginner Open Water Swim (BOWS) training on Thursday nights for as long as possible and finally I go the nerve to try. For someone who has always been athletic and caught on to things fast, I was NOT catching on to swimming. I can recall leaving the water in tears once because I continually went out there, felt awkward, always got winded and it just was not happening for me. I simply was not getting it. I started working with a couple of the volunteer coaches - Chris being one of them. One day while talking with Chris, he showed me some technique tips, mainly focusing on rotating my body and reaching out with my arms. "Pretend like you are reaching for a food you love", he said... "Mine is always chocolate." The next thing I knew, after consistently showing up to BOWS and leaving feeling defeated, following only a couple of times working with Chris, I started rotating and reaching and it just clicked. I could FEEL the difference... and it was suddenly intuitive what to keep doing. I think the first time I did the first loop around the buoys, I yelled to Chris in joy to LOOK! :-) I then got to two times around and then three times around. I moved up to swims in the bay working my way to the mile. Next thing I knew, I was at La Jolla Cove (my now favorite spot) swimming a mile at a time and then registering and completing the 1.2 mile Tiki Swim event and the 1-mile Shark Fest event. The sport I once was afraid of, didn't think I would ever get, and just hoped to GET THROUGH, I suddenly could not get enough of! I am still very grateful to Chris and often feel the need to chat with him about my accomplishments and ask him advice - which he is always very gracious to entertain. I have decided to venture to a 70.3 in September... which I will definitely need some help with... I currently need to get some pool work in as I got so enamored with the open water, I have been reluctant to get in the pool which I definitely need. In the process now of setting up an appointment with Chris!
Name Email Phone Message Send Contact I've been working with Chris Holley for the past two months on a personalized nutrition and metabolic efficiency plan, as well as a fitness training plan. I am training for a few triathlons this year, and most importantly would like to accomplish a half ironman in October. Chris has been instrumental in giving me the tools, both nutrition-wise and fitness-wise, as well as the confidence and encouragement, such that I can meet my goals this year. From the very start, Chris was able to pull in the pertinent information about my health, lifestyle, and limits, and formulate a plan that was catered to where I was at with my training. The workouts have been challenging, yet doable. They instill confidence because you can see yourself improving week over week. Chris has also transformed my eating, and it has truly made a difference. The metabolic efficiency really works! I've long struggled with snacking and foods with high carb content, so I knew this wasn't going to be easy for me. But Chris eases you into it, gives you ideas for foods, and provides good information on what to eat and when. Because of the services that Chris has provided me, I have more energy, my workouts are stronger than they ever have been, I've lost weight, and I feel good about achieving the goals I have set. Thank you Chris!
I've known Chris for some time now and he's always inspired me with his swimming credentials and capabilities as an athlete himself. I asked him if I could hire him to review my swim stroke. It used to be an decent swimmer but then a poor swim coach instructed me to change things up. For 2 years my stroke was off. I was getting slower and didn't understand why. Chris evaluated my videos and immediately found some things that needed to be fixed. He sent me video demonstrations of what and how to correct my swimming. I knocked 23 seconds off my 400 yard swim and 22 seconds off my 200 yard swim assessment. This happened within 4 weeks of his analysis. Ecstatic to say the least! Thank you Chris!!
