More About Coach Chelsea

I have been in the coaching field for six years now. I spent one year in the Junior Varsity level at Carroll High School. This is my fifth year as the Assistant Varsity coach at Carroll. I specialize in outfield and power hitting from the right side.

I played at the collegiate level with Bluffton University and at the high school level with Carroll High School. I was a three year varsity starter in high school, receiving one Second Team All League, two First Team All League,the Coach's Award, and the Patriot Award. I was a two year captain while at Bluffton University.

The very first thing I do is watch an athlete's swing. I take a mental note of what needs improvement and what is done well. I then break the swing down to individual movement's so the athlete can feel what she is doing wrong. Then, I show the right way to do the individual movement. I believe repetition is key to success but I also know that time is limited so I show the athlete what to fix and how to fix it so they can take the knowledge home with them and practice on their own. After all individual movements are fixed, I have the athlete swing through again so they can feel how everything comes together.

Chelsea was great with my daughter today and giving her lots of batting tips to make her swing faster, shorter and more effective. We will definitely be sticking with her to help throughout the on and off season with batting, her throw and fielding for the outfield
