More About Coach Chelsea
After my first two years of college playing at GRCC in Grand Rapids, MI, I coached for one of the top clubs in the country, Michigan Volleyball Academy. Through that club, I learned different techniques of agility training such as plyometrics and Parisi speed training. I continued my coaching as head of the club team, Crush in Rockford, MI, and as the JV/Varsity coach at Cedar Spring High school in Cedar Springs, MI. I have experience with ages 9-18. During my time as a head coach, I did outside training, personal lessons and strength conditioning.
After playing 3 years of Varsity in High School in Rockford, MI and playing for one of the top clubs in the Nation (Michigan Volleyball Academy), I continued my volleyball career playing for Grand Rapids Community College in Grand Rapids, MI. GRCC was and still is one of the top junior college volleyball programs in the country. Between seasons I coached for Michigan Volleyball Academy and coached some of the top players in the state. After committing to play at University of Massachusetts, I underwent shoulder surgery and after minimal healing decided to step down from competing.
Typical practices run anywhere from 2-3 hours. I mix in cardio, strength training and agility conditioning on top of skill and fundamental practice. Every practice begins with warm up and ball control, followed by drills, serving, passing and hitting. I usually finish with training and full body stretching.
