More About Coach Bruce
I am currrently a Div II fastpitch softball coach and have been playing and coaching for a total of 25 years. I played college baseball as a pitcher / shortstop at NCA&T State University from 1988-1992. I have won a state championship in modified fastpitch and 4 world championships in slow pitch. We won our first collegiate championship in 2015. I am hands on with my sessions and spend lots of time working on fundamentals of the game. I teach all aspects of the game from pitching to hitting to catching. (Both infield and outfield)
My 2013-14 college team finished #1 in the nation in Div II in team batting with a .366 team average. My 2012-13 team was #5 in the nation with a .349 average. In my first season as an asst coach we won more games than the team had won in the previous 3 seasons combined and the following season we increased that win total to 21 and lost the conference championship 5-4. I am in my 3rd season and have recruited from Canada to Florida and have been picked to win the conference championship. We won the regular season and tournament championship and went to the NCAA Regionals this year.
Normally my plans vary depending on what you are working on whether it be pitching, fielding, batting etc... Age will determine what we are working on and mechanics of throwing, catching, hitting and knowledge of the game are always included in the training sessions.
