More About Coach Brandon
I have been working soccer camps since I was in High School. I have also worked the UCSB camps in the summer. I have done personal training throughout my college career, helping young athletes get ready for their club teams, tournaments, and colleges. I normally train athletes ages 6-18.
I have played at the highest level throughout my whole life. I have participated in a range of training sessions, coaching opportunities, and competitive teams. Growing up I was part of the Sounders Academy program, and I currently go home and train with the Sounders U-23 and the Sounder reserves. I played my first year of D1 collegiate soccer at Oregon State University before transferring to University of California Santa Barbara (UCSB). I am currently in my senior season at UCSB, this will be my second year being team captain.
A typical session is 45 minutes to an hour in length. I will perform an initial session that runs the athlete through technical skills, speed/agility training, and shooting to evaluate the athlete. From there I will develop a lesson plan to progress the athlete's skill level and over all abilities. Each session will have a theme, this theme will be based on what I think the athlete needs to work on, and what the athlete would like to achieve. All athletes are different and therefore do not fit into one mold. However all of my sessions will include fundamental skills such as dribbling through cones, speed ladders, juggling, passing (with both feet), and foot skills.
A standard session will be broken down into numerous parts. Each part builds into the next. The first part is warmup and speed/agility training. From there the following part of the session will be technical foot skills. This can be preformed in various drills, such as dribbling through cones, individual skill work, volley patterns, and juggling. The final part of the session is dependent on each athlete. If an athlete wants to work on shooting, then the final session will be filled with drills to help the athlete learn the technique of hitting the ball, different types of surfaces to use, etc. Each session will end with a short cool down and some homework.
