I Was teaching in Boston schools as a teen, in my 20s I coached at cheer gyms, in my 30s I worked in gymnastics gyms. Still in my 30s i have my own gym.

Teach drills, body control, techniques, conditioning. Then spoting.
Every athlete is a little different, i give you a work out plan for the gym and for home (yes i give homework) to help speed up progress.
