More About Coach Avery
I have had the privilege of being mentored by Bobby Howe and Ralph Perez, two legends of US soccer. Bobby played professionally for West Ham and coached for the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders. He was also the director of coaching for US soccer. He is one of the rare few to have played against Pele. Ralph Perez was apart of the coaching staff for the US national team to qualify for the 1990 World Cup. He has been the assistant for LA Galaxy and a prominent figure in Cal South soccer. I have taken their lessons into my own game and my coaching style. I have coached 3 summer camps for Seattle United, one of the top clubs in Seattle. Looking to work with highly motivated athletes who are eager to learn and improve.
I have played in all the major arenas of youth soccer. From the recreational level all the way up to collegiate level and semi professional. I've won multiple state titles at the club level. I won the 3A state championship for High School my junior year and then my senior year I won the MVP award. In college, I won SCIAC tournament MVP and then my team and I went on to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA playoffs.
I love to focus on the technical aspect of the game. Although no session is the same, I love to develop players footwork, comfortability with the ball, and their ability striking the ball. I want to allow players to develop their own style and flair. Soccer is the beautiful game, I want to keep it that way. I cater each session to the goals of the athlete based on position and skills they want to improve. I provide athletes with actionable takeaways they can bring back into game situations. Goal of the session is to take players to the next level. Groups preferred.
