More About Coach Ashley

I have coached high school and middle school aged kids in private and group sessions, and believe that building fundamentals through repetition and muscle memory builds the best most dynamic player.

I have 25+ years as a player, playing ASA in Texas, 4 years Varsity, All-State, freshman starter on State Championship level team, and played college level. I am still an active center fielder and short stop in a competitive league.

I prefer building well-rounded basics, beginning by breaking down skills to their component parts. All players benefit from proper throwing (grip, wrist snap, swim drill, etc) and fielding mechanics and once ingrained in the body I focus heavily on drills. As for batting, again I believe in building on the fundamental mechanics, including balance, relaxation, stance, follow-through, grip, etc. I will also work with players on the fundamentals of base running and in-game scenarios as well as outfield drills. I believe that practice is where you make the game second nature and the game is a celebration of your practice.

She was great. Loved how she went through the fundamentals and focused on the mechanics of throwing, catching, etc.. and making sure they felt comfortable with what they learned. in the one hour session they had, they learned more than they did during a week of softball camp or their entire season of softball. Would definitely recommend Coach Ashley without hesitation.
