More About Coach Anthony

I have been doing private soccer training for over 5 years now. I moved to Portland late in 2015, and since have began coaching for the Portland Timbers Youth, BSC, OES Girls Middle School, and my Private 1on1/small group work. I am also the Head coach of the 08/09 Girls RTC Thorns Team, and Assistant coach for the 03/04 Boys Timbers ODP Team. I have my D license through the US Soccer Federation. I was honored to be selected as the Portland Timbers Boys Camp Coach of The Year award for 2016. Lastly, in my first season with OES Girls MS, we won the Championship after they have lost the previous two years!

I have played soccer my entire life, and still play to this day. I currently play in the OPSL and enjoy playing the same amount as I did when I was a kid. I played my college ball at MacMurray College located in Illinois. My last two seasons playing in college, I led my team in assists and was privileged to be captain both years as well.

My sessions are very student oriented. Meaning, it really depends on the students age, skill level, wants from parents/coaches, etc. I really focus on the "why" behind everything I do. I make sure that the student is understanding "why" I am asking them to perform the activity the way I am, in order to understand "why" they will need to do it like that in a game in order to be successful.

Client Reviews

Coach Anthony is by far one of the best coaches I've come across. He is very skilled and patient and my child took to him immediately. I can recommend coach Anthony enough!!!

Anthony was fantastic to work with! My son is 11 and high energy; Anthony was extremely organized with a plan for the session that made it fun, fast and engaging. I would highly recommend Anthony if you want to get your child to the next level.

This is the beginning our our journey with Anthony. First impression: prompt response, kind, friendly,
Knowledgeable and knows how to work with children.

My daughter walked away from her first sessions with knowledge and asked when we could participate in more lessons.

Anthony knows how to motivate kids and speak to them in a way so that they understand how to become better players.

He is extremely knowledgeable and listens to parents input.

My son has worked with Coach Anthony for about 3 months. It has been a great experience. Anthony is super positive. Really builds confidence and does great technical work.
My son is U13 club, but I've seen him work with 7-17. Sessions are well planned and we spent time with traps, chips and shooting with power. Actual technique he can use in games.
Cant recommend highly enough

Coach Anthony had a great routine and provided the type of coaching and instruction that I was hoping for! He was very attentive and gave excellent positive feedback. Looking forward to the next session!

Our 8 year old daughter trained with Anthony for 8 months in 2015, both individually and with a teammate in joint practices. I was immediately impressed with Anthony’s professionalism, passion and effective communication skills. He arrived at each lesson with a game plan either based on having watched her previous game, or our discussion of that week’s events. He taught defending techniques, field positioning and game day strategies that weren’t covered in her club practices. He kept the workouts fresh and fast paced. At the end of each practice, he reviewed what they worked on, and why. Anthony took an interest in the girls, and mentored them. He is a wonderful role model, and we miss him greatly!
My 8 year old daughter worked with Anthony for a few months, and it was an incredible experience! Anthony approached every training session professionally with a detailed plan of what he wanted to work on with her, but he was very open to adding anything my husband or I wanted him to focus on. My daughter plays defense, and so he honed her defensive skills but also helped to develop her ball handling skills. Her physicality, speed of play, and confidence have increased working with Anthony. Anthony has a wonderful way with kids! He pushes them to be their best while mixing in some fun. My daughter loved her sessions with Anthony and is a better player because of him!
