More About Coach Annmarie
I have been out of the coaching world for a few years but realized where my true passion lies and always has, field hockey. My past coaching experience has been coaching elementary school aged girls to high school. I have coached for recreational field hockey camps, Monmouth University field hockey camps as well as camps and clinics through the very well known Jersey Intensity club. Also, through my four years at Monmouth I was a coach for Jersey Intensity indoor club teams. I am willing to work with any age group and skill level, however, my main focus and strengths will be on sharpening and teaching stick skills as well as working on some fitness.
In my play at Middletown HS North, I was a 3 year varsity starter, Athlete of the Week on several occasions, First-Team All Shore, as well as Second and Third Team Accolades. At the collegiate level I played at Division 1 Monmouth University and was a 4 year starter at forward and mid-field. My most proud accomplishment was being awarded the NSCA Strength and Conditioning All American Award and the Monmouth University Athletics Sports Medicine award for my 3 month ACL surgery recovery. My ACL was torn in our Spring season and I returned to play that September while being one of the leading scorers for Monmouth that season.
My typical session plan would be a quick warm-up and stretch session to get the muscles warm. Then we would get right into the drills. As I mentioned, my main focus would be to help improve a player's stick skills. We would begin every session with a quick review of the basics because the best players have the best basic skills. Then each session we would work on learning two or more new skills. As a player's skills improve I would incorporate myself as a live defender. However, each session would be tailored specifically to the player and their skill level as well as what they desire to learn. I would never take on a player if I feel that what they would like to learn or improve upon is not my strength.
