More About Coach Anna

I have played competitive softball my entire life (16 years of experience). I was a walk-on and played one year at Berry College in Rome Ga. In the past, I have privately coached girls in middle school, and in high school. Not only did I give private lessons, but I helped to coach 2 teams (one elementary and one high school). Currently, I coach strength training for middle and high school athletes at Dark Horse Sports Performance, a company that my brother and I started to help athletes reach the next level. I hold a USA Weightlifitng, crossfit level 1, and first aid and CPR certifications.

I competed in high school where I earned several awards (scholar athlete, all-region team, and other minor awards). My team competed at the Georgia State Tournament (high school) 6A twice. I then decided to become a walk-on at Berry College for a year where I played second base and outfield.

I count it a success that for every team I have ever tried out for, I have made.

I adapt to a client's needs. I specialize in middle infield, but have experience in outfield, catching, hitting for power, and slapping. I first walk the athlete through a warm-up, then perform a variety of drills based on the skills that needed to be worked on, then wrap up. Drills would depend on the athlete's proficiency in such movements. For example, if I have a beginner who needs to work on hitting form, I would first use a tee. If the the athlete is more advanced, I could work with soft-toss, pitching machine, hitting placement, etc. It's all about adapting. I like to focus on technique; this increases muscle memory and can be used to increase speed and power. I also like to use technology such as videos to help the athlete improve. Not only will they feel the technical changes being made, but they will see what needs to be improved.

Client Reviews

Coach Anna was a fantastic special guest of mine at a sports camp I was putting on for the kids. She was very knowledgable, energetic, funny, patient, and it was obvious she cared about the children learning and doing their best! We are lucky to have a coach like Anna in our area.
Anna helped me to greatly improve my hitting technique and fielding skills. Being a former player, I could easily relate to and understand Anna.
