More About Coach Amy
I have competed gymnastics for over 15 years. I have competed at all levels including the elite level. I started my gymnastics career at North Stars Gymnastics Academy, and competed on a full scholarship at the University of Arkansas. I have coached gymnastics for about 5 years. I can coach all levels of gymnastics. I have worked at North Stars Gymnastics Academy in Boonton, NJ, and also at Aspire Gymnastics Academy in Arkansas. I have also worked at the University of Arkansas Gymnastics Camp. have worked with all age groups as well. I will be graduating in May 2014 with a degree in Kinesiology (Teaching and Coaching).
I have earned an All American award, and the NCAA National Championship. I competed at the collegiate level at the University of Arkansas, and have competed at VISA Championships at the elite level. I have competed all over the world and outside the country, including France, Cancun, and the Bahamas.I also earned a Honor Roll Award in Fall 2013.
I would start with a good warm-up with running, and moving all parts of the body and making sure the warm-up is more than 5 minutes. I would then have them stretch all areas of the body. I would have a conditioning circuit, and 10 minutes of basic tumbling depending on the level I would be coaching. Depending on the level of the athlete, drills are very important for great gymnastics. I would have drill stations set up as well as working on specific skills for the level being learned. I would finish the session with a 15 minute cool down stretch, working splits, shoulders, pike stretches, calf stretches, and bridges.
