More About Coach Alyssa
I have competed in gymnastics on the national, collegiate and international level. I was a UCLA gymnast from 2008-2013, I am a NCAA Champion (2010), and I am an All-American on floor. I trained at the elite level for almost 2 years after college. I also competed in the Professional Gymnastics Challenge for the U.S. team, which was a competition against Olympic, world, and collegiate champions from around the world. I have coached for 9 years and specialize in tumbling and vault. I coach both artistic gymnastics and T&T (trampoline and tumbling) at Wallers Gym Jam in Santa Clarita, CA. I work with kids of all ages, ranging from age 6 to age 18. I am also a certified personal trainer through NCEP.
I have competed in gymnastics on the national, collegiate and international level. Nationally, I competed up to level 10 (before college). I was a UCLA gymnast from 2008-2013. During my collegiate career, I became a NCAA Champion (2010), Pac 10 and Pac 12 Champion, earned All-Pac 12 team honors and was an All-American on floor. I trained at the elite level for 2 years after college. I also competed in the Professional Gymnastics Challenge for the U.S. team, which was a competition against Olympic, world, and collegiate champions from around the world.
During a typical 1 hour session, I spend about 15 minutes in active stretching and warm-up, including some basic drills. For the next 35 minutes, I focus on improving the client's specific skill set and building on new skills. The last 10 minutes I usually set aside for stretching and and/or specific needs.
For 1.5 or 2 hour sessions, I follow a similar structured workout, but may focus longer on specific client needs - whether that is improving overall fitness or stretching or a specific skill.
Some sessions I strictly do personal training with the focus on functional and body weight movements in a HIIT circuit style workout (High Intensity Interval Training). I incorporate gymnastics conditioning into the workout with a focus on core strengthening and muscle endurance.
