More About Coach Alyssa
Experience coaching or training athletes: I have 6 years of experience coaching and training athletes in volleyball. I also played volleyball for 12 years, which gave me a deep understanding of the game and the skills needed to succeed.
Levels coached: I have coached athletes at various levels, including elementary school, middle school, and high school. I have also coached club volleyball, where I worked with athletes who were preparing for college volleyball or national competitions.
Places worked as a coach or trainer: I have worked for several volleyball clubs in Texas and New Mexico. Specifically, I worked for San Antonio Elite and Alamo Volleyball Club in San Antonio, and Albuquerque Rebels Volleyball Club in Albuquerque, New Mexico. These clubs provided me with valuable coaching experience and helped me develop my skills as a coach.
Age groups worked with: I have coached both boys and girls, ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old. I understand that coaching techniques and approaches need to be tailored to the age group and skill level of the athletes, and I have developed a coaching style that is adaptable to each athlete's needs.
Specific athletic accomplishments: I was on Varsity volleyball 3/4 years in highschool in Albuquerque, New Mexico where I was an. all-around athlete, playing front and back row. We made the State championships twice. During my time at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, I played college volleyball for 3 years and achieved several significant accomplishments. Specifically, I achieved multiple awards including but not limited to- most digs in a single game and most digs in a career season. I am proud of these accomplishments and have worked hard to achieve them.
Collegiate or professional level: I competed at the collegiate level and played volleyball for Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio as the Libero. My experience as a collegiate athlete has been instrumental in shaping my coaching style and approach, as I understand the challenges and opportunities that come with playing at the college level.
Places competed: I competed at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. Additionally, in 2021, our team won conference champions, and we attended nationals. This experience gave me valuable insight into the hard work, dedication, and teamwork required to achieve success at a competitive level.
Awards or honors: These awards reflect my dedication to the sport and my team and have helped me develop leadership and teamwork skills that are valuable in coaching.
Typical session: In a typical session with me, clients can expect a structured and organized training program that focuses on their individual needs and goals. I begin each session with a warm-up to prevent injury and prepare the athlete's body for the work ahead. Then, we move on to specific drills and techniques that target the areas where the athlete needs improvement.
Focus on drills or techniques: The specific drills and techniques I focus on during a session depend on the athlete's skill level and goals. For beginners, I focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game, such as serving, passing, and hitting. For more advanced athletes, I focus on refining their technique, improving their speed, agility, and strength, and developing their game strategy.
Working out an athlete: When working out an athlete, I first assess their skill level and goals to design a customized training program that meets their needs. I then use a combination of drills and exercises that target the areas where the athlete needs improvement, such as footwork, technique, or agility. I also incorporate strength and conditioning exercises to help the athlete build endurance and prevent injury.
During each session, I provide feedback and guidance to help the athlete improve their skills and technique. I also work with the athlete to set specific goals and milestones, and we track progress over time to ensure that we are making progress towards those goals.
Overall, my goal is to provide a very challenging and rewarding training program that helps athletes achieve their full potential and develop a love for the game.
