More About Coach Alison

Softball has been my life I started playing at age 5 and never stopped. I have played various positions but specialize in Catching and the infield. I am well versed in the outfield but have less game experience there. With every player there are ups and downs of hitting and I have gone through both. These experiences help to teach others what to do through the highs of multi-hit games and the lows of 5 game hitless slump. As a captain at every level I have experience leading by example and showing how to lead.
I have been working for 2 years now training individuals with various fitness goals. With this experience, I feel more comfortable with constructive criticism on a professional scale versus the teammate to teammate interaction.

I competed for Simmons College all 4 years starting half the games my freshman year and all games after that year other than a few injuries. I started as a catcher or 1st base throughout my career, also seeing time at 2nd base when injuries were present. 2 year captain for the school and a leader for the Pitchers and Catchers when we didn't have the focused assistant coaches at practices to help. My High school career and travel league saw time at 3rd and 2nd in addition to catching. I currently play now in my free time splitting time between 2nd, SS and the outfield so I haven't skipped a beat since!

I will break down things from offense and defense.
Defensive drills can be either position specific based on age or all-inclusive. Things like footwork reps, transition out of the glove, quick throws and throws from various angles, crow hops, play specific awareness, and lots of practice with ground balls and pop flies because routine plays wins games.
Offense will be breaking down the swing, angle of the bat and pitch selection, butting and footwork out of the box. If someone so desires we can work on stealing ( reading the ball out of the hand/ approaching the bag safely and properly).
Dynamics and safe progressions for warmups and cool downs will be at the forefront based on my current training background.
