More About Coach Alicia

I have individually coached players from age 7 to 18. I was the assistant coach for a 14 and under elite travel softball team in Cincinnati. I coached for the Crown Point Bulldogs 12 and under State Championship team in 2007 and 2008.

I played collegiate softball for Tiffin University, an NCAA Division 2 school, as a utility player. My freshman year at Tiffin we qualified for Nationals. In high school I was an All-Conference catcher. I also received Academic All American while at Tiffin. I was switch hitter, slap hitter and a great bunter.

After evaluating the players skill level as a catcher, I would concentrate on increasing their fundamental skills such as blocking, throws and framing. It's also important for catchers to have endurance as they are involved in almost every play during the game. Once they have mastered the fundamentals I would work drills to increase the speed and accuracy of their snap throws to second as well as begin to teach pitch calling strategy.

Hitting philosophy: I feel it is important to focus on leg and core strength for hitting. Hitting lessons would include a combination of hitting fundamentals and strength training. Once the fundamentals of hitting are engrained in the player you can begin teaching them ball placement based on the location of the pitch as well as learning to bunt, slap hit and switch hit. I feel bunting is a crucial skill for all softball players.

Client Reviews

Awesome coach! I have known many coaches throughout my 3 children’s sporting careers & she is attentive to detail & technique! I highly recommend her!

First session with Alicia and my daughter loves her. She understand everything and enjoyed the time with the coach.

Coach Alicia worked with my daughter for the first time tonight and it was a great experience! She gave her a lot of tips that she came home and practiced before coming in the house. My daughter can't wait to go back next week. Coach Alicia was very patient and made sure she understood what she was teaching her.

Alicia worked with our 12 yr old on catching fundamentals, was a great first session. Alicia is friendly, but also straight to the point when it comes to training. Lesson covered everything from warm-up, stretching, gear adjustments, fundamentals of blocking/mitt placement, and drills to work on. Daughter responded very good to Alicia's training and was looking forward to another session. It is obvious that Alicia is passionate about softball and wants to share it with others.

Coach Alicia has really connected with our daughter. She has a nice way of relaying information that helps our daughter understand how to make adjustments and see results quickly.
