More About Coach Adrian

I have played soccer my entire life. In my experiences in high school, I was given the opportunity to personally train many of my fellow teammates as the captain of the team. I was also an assistant coach for many youth club soccer teams and worked as a counselor at a Soccer-Specific day camp every summer for multiple weeks. I was also the head coach of a Camp vs Camp team as a counselor at YMCA Camp Belknap. As a student who trained to be an athlete at the collegiate level, I additionally have a great understanding of the many different levels of training required to meet every level of expectation.

As a soccer player in High School, I was awarded the captainship of my team during my Junior Year, and was a starter all 4 years. In my club experience at the same time, I was also awarded the captainship, and competed on GPS's top team in Massachusetts, going to nationals many different times and high level tournaments all over the country. I was offered multiple spots at different division 1 and 3 programs, but decided to focus on Academics and play at Bates College. During my time at Bates, I was one of a few freshmen to get playing time. Unfortunately I was riddled with injuries during the time after Covid, and my college soccer career was short-lived, but it provided me a strong understanding of what is necessary at a high level collegiate soccer.

Due to a lot of history of injury in my own career, my sessions always begin with a warmup that gets the athlete limber. This warmup is a combination of both dynamic stretching as well as movement with the ball. I believe strongly in fitness through soccer and thus all my drills have a combination of high level technical ability pulled from game-like situations as well as a fitness element to emulate a real game feel. Most of these drills will require quick movements in many directions followed by some sort of strike of the ball at many different ranges of distance. I set goals within each technical drill in which you must complete the drill to perfection a certain amount of times before moving on. The caliber and intention of the drill will be dependent on the clients current physical ability, technical ability, and position. In many higher aged and higher level clients I commonly use a medicine-ball-in-hand to make the drill harder than game like scenarios and reduce the ability for the client to see the ball while working. I am active within the drills to not only demonstrate, but also to maintain high pressure situations. Sessions typically end with finishing and always a cooldown so as to develop important habits later on. I am also extremely creative, and can develop new drills in relation to the intentions and desires of the client.
