More About Coach Maria

Running is such an innate action, that I have found personal interest in helping people enjoy it and achieve their goals injury free. It was a main topic in my formation as trainer and MS in sports medicine. My experience coaching running are from coaching basics of running to helping clients completing an ultra marathon injury- free. Its in the form and muscle balance where running begins. Running is an excellent way to train the cardiovascular system. My experience in coaching for running will always begin with gait, running form, muscle imbalances and previous injuries analysis to set a starting point.

In high school I was pat of the track team, with good achievements in mid distance running like second place in regional competitions; since then running has been my preferred cardiovascular exercise. I continue to practice mid and long distance running in a recreational way. But eventually I will run for time doing a half marathon in under 1h50min or try to do under 10 min miles.

After doing some test and video analysis the first session, I will plan a training program based on the client's specific needs and goals. In a typical session first will be form and specific drills and strengthening exercises to avoid injuries, then depending on the fitness level of the client, the training will be focused on heart rate, training zones, trainings for distance, time or endurance. Then mobility and muscle recovery are in order.

Ma . Gabriela is an excellent professional. My experience with her began in 2014 when I looked for her to help me fulfill a goal that I had set, to run a 50k Ultra marathon in the mountains . My closest experience to distance running was 10k and 4 years before a half marathon in town. I worked a full time job, was deconditioned and we had less than 8 months to the race. I virtually started from zero, but thanks to her extensive knowledge and unconditional support we succeeded. No only did I reach my goal thanks to Maria , but I also got the 8th place in the Open Women category , overtaking even some of the experienced runners . Not bad for my first long distance !!
