Greg has over 35 years of experience in the sport as a boxer, trainer and official. Greg has helped boxers of all levels improve, and he is passionate about working with anyone to bring their boxing skills and overall fitness to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\">next level<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Provide a brief summary of your participation playing and\/or coaching your sport:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I have been involved with amateur boxing since I was 18 when I started participating in matches. Over the years, I\u2019ve been a part of the sport as both an official and trainer. With my passion for the sport, I founded the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\/searches\/boston-ma--boxing\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\/searches\/boston-ma--boxing\">Boston Sport Boxing Club<\/a> (BSBC) and was immediately pleased with the response to my methods of coaching. The BSBC was featured on the front pages of the Boston Globe and The Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why did you decide to become a private coach?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Having a degree in education, I discovered that teaching, especially beginners and one-on-one training, was a forte of mine. Over time, it became a specialty.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your coaching style or philosophy?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>What you put into your training, you get out of it!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is your favorite coach and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Mike Rosario, a top USA Boxing coach and official from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\/searches\/new-york-ny--boxing\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\/searches\/new-york-ny--boxing\">New York City<\/a>. He epitomizes control and passion while being in complete control of his boxer. And what a gentleman!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>What is your favorite moment in your athletic career?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I have many\u2026but being invited to be an official at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York, not once but several times, was a great moment. The men and women who make up USA Boxing are quite unique and passionate about the sport!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have any success stories from coaching an athlete?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Besides aiding several professional athletes with conditioning, I\u2019ve coached several area boxers who\u2019ve gone on to regional and national tournaments.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Did you participate in your sport in high school and college?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I started boxing during my freshman in college at Rio Grande (Ohio) College. I was able to compete, and I became the Heavyweight Bronze medalist at the Golden Gloves in 1977. As an official, I was able to represent New England at the national trials of the Olympics in Louisiana two years ago.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>What other sports or activities do you enjoy playing or practicing?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m a huge fan of outdoor activities\u2026including hiking and all-terrain biking. I\u2019ve recently started doing yoga.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s your mantra or favorite saying?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Do unto others as others would do unto you.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>What team do you root for most enthusiastically?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\/searches\/cleveland-oh\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.coachup.com\/searches\/cleveland-oh\">Cleveland<\/a> teams!!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have any special talents or a surprising thing someone might not know about you?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Surprisingly, I have experience in rock and roll music history! I worked in Los Angeles as a writer for Rick Dees, Kasey Kasem and other music-related shows.
