More About Coach Zach
After four years as a Division 3 NESCAC football player, I became a special assistant to the head strength and conditioning coach at Colby during my senior year. Working with winter and spring-season teams, I had an active role in the teams' in-season strength, speed, and agility workouts. The primary focus was to ensure proper form and mechanics to help the athletes avoid injury and maintain their strength, speed, and agility for peak performance.
In 2016 and 2017 I coached Pop-Warner football for the Jersey City Gators at the Jr. Midget level. I was an offensive assistant to the head coach as well as defensive backs coach for the defense. I was also in charge of the strength and conditioning program for our athletes.
I'm a former Division III football player at Colby College and four-year starter in the defensive backfield at both cornerback and strong safety, and elected captain of the team for my senior season. Received 2nd Team All-Conference Honors after my Junior season and also was chosen to the 3rd-Team D3 Pre-Season All-American Team before my senior season.
Not only did I compete on the football field but also in the weight room, where I developed a strong passion. In 2013, I earned National Strength and Conditioning Association's All-American Honors after being nominated by our Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Colby. I've since continued to pursue my passion in the gym and am currently a candidate studying for my Personal Fitness Trainer Certification from the American Council of Exercise.
Clients can expect a well-structured, productive, and goal-oriented session. I believe in a progressive workout regiment. Depending on the fitness level and skill level of the athlete, drills will progressively build on each other toward game-like scenarios as the athlete develops over time.
Workouts will always begin with a dynamic warm-up followed by a brief period of footwork and agility drills. Then, depending on the position of the athlete and his goals, we will jump into position-specific work for a good portion of the workout. The workout will finish with some strength training exercises, conditioning period, and cool-down stretch.
