More About Coach Ty

I have some experience coaching 3-8 graders. My high school offered opportunities to coach while I was in and after high school. I was asked to come help coach this summer for my high school as an assistant offensive line coach, but had to turn it down because of a previous commitment I had. My high school was Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, CO. I am willing to work with players all the way from starting out in tackle football, to elite high school players. I have no industry certifications.

In high school I was named second team all-state as a senior after coming off of a knee injury junior year. I competed at Colgate University, a D1 football program in New York. I have since transferred back home to Colorado, where I will not be continuing my athletic career due to injuries. I was ranked by two sources as the second and third best interior offensive lineman my senior year.

Sessions will be one hour. While I think a shorter session or a longer session can be beneficial I believe an hour of working hard at your position is the best efficiency mentally and physically. In sessions the first 15-20 minutes will include a warm up to make sure to avoid any avoidable injury. This time will also include working on footwork as this is one of the key things that many recruiters have told me what they look for in a college athlete. The next 40 minutes will be dedicated to run or pass blocking. Doing both in the same day can mess up a players mentality between the very differing techniques. For run blocking days we will work on being aggressive and being quick. As offensive lineman are bigger we are asked to be as quick as all the skill players. This is another thing recruiters have told me they looked for. Pass blocking days we will work on our balance and our patience. This is what differs so much from run blocking. While we do need to be quick, we also need to sometimes let the game come to us.
