Highlights

• Participated in one of the first heart rate training certifications ever by the guru of heart rate training, Sally Edwards. This was cutting edge and the onset of science in sport.

• Created the Team in Training triathlon program with Dave Scott in 1998-1999. This was a great education for me that money cannot buy. The magnitude of the number of athletes this program governs is unmatched by any other endurance training program in the world.

• Formation of the Triple Threat Tough Racing Company, a company the provides group workouts, individual coaching, and camps for USAT members.

• Grown to employ 6 USAT Level I coaches as of 2011
• 180 plus athletes in each of the last 3 years
• 2nd place in the 2012 USA Triathlon National Championships, Div II
• Ironman/Ultra distance race winners and Kona qualifiers

• Coached over 2,000 triathletes in Team in Training program from 1998 to 2011

• Use science to coach athletes. Started testing athletes in 2000 with Vo2 (expired air) and blood lactate testing; have conducted well over 1,000 individual tests since that time.

• Mentor program with Justin Trolle and Vanguard Endurance. Has provided advanced training strategies for advanced athletes and specific goals.

The knowledge that Coach Todd has in coaching, along with the 25 years of racing experience, is what makes him a highly sought after coach. Learning from a number of mentors, including Dave Scott (“The Man”) Darvin McBrayer, exercise physiologist and countless others who have contributed, Coach Todd continues to pass it on with the numerous coaches from his “coaching tree”, Coach Todd says, THIS, is why you should want to work with me, NOT my results!”
“As I tend to be as egomaniacal as the next triathlete, so I guess that’s why I feel compelled to talk about my results here. I get tired of seeing coaches with their entire racing career on their bio page! Listing things as mundane as a 5K (not that these are accomplishments to disregard) these are not the things that make a good coach! Even a great athlete may be poor at teaching. With coaching, it simply is not the most important aspect!”
With regard to the people who do want to know, here is a synopsis of Coach Todd’s highlights. If you are more like Coach Todd, then you probably will want to skip this section!
So if you are still reading, the tally goes like this; over 300 triathlons; does not include marathons, 10Ks or bike races. 6 time Ironman finisher. 40 marathons. And a countless number of runs, swims and bike rides and races. The skinny on performance-
Fastest Ironman-’97 Ironman Canada 11:41
Fastest Half (sorry, can’t buy into 70.3) - Buffalo Springs Lake ’95 -4:54
Fastest Olympic distance-Chicago Sun Times triathlon ’90 - 2:14
Fastest marathon-Austin Marathon-3:35 – ‘97

Client Reviews

Coach Todd was really nice and super helpful to my nephew. Thanks Coach Todd! I hope he chooses to continue

Todd is a very experienced professional coach. I needed to hire him to provide coaching services for a wellness conference. He provided logistics support, staffing and on site coaching for the attendees during the week of conference. He was a delight to work with and provided excellence in coaching and hospitality to our clients and guests. I am planning on working with him in the future on many other fitness events and endeavors. I highly recommend for Running, Cycling, Triathlon and Fitness Event Coaching Needs.

Coach Todd is awesome! He scheduled with me right away, and really listened to me and what I needed. He's got great resources and amazing enthusiasm for what he does, he's got me excited about working out and reaching my goals. I highly recommend Todd, he has so much experience and lives it!

Phenomenal coach!! Caring and very attentive to detail. He helped my wife and I train for a marathon. My wife and I are at very different running levels and Coach Todd offered custom tailored for each of us while also making sure we were able to run together! The BEST coach we've ever had in any sport. Period!!! And thats saying a lot given my wife is a former D1 athlete. Such a great guy. Can't wait to use Coach Todd for our triathalon!

In just a couple of sessions Todd's expertise totally transformed my swimming! He is very knowledgeable and professional, he is good at explaining the how and why of concepts, drills, etc. He is also patient with beginners like me! I signed up for more sessions so that he can help me achieve my goals.

It's been a pleasure working with Todd. Not only does he know his stuff, but he has been more than accommodating with trying to match my schedule with lessons.

Excellent coach. We were able to get quite a bit covered in the time we had together. I will be signing up for another lesson and would recommend him to anyone who asked.

Being a 62 year old dude, you might think that I'm at the end of my running days... Wrong!!! I love to run and actually feel like a 15 year old kid when I talk to Coach Todd!!! How cool it has been to actually have someone help me run stronger and longer!!! Gonna actually race!!

Todd is awesome. I learned more in 45 minutes with him in the swim than I did in months with a traditional swim coach.

Coach Todd is awesome! Incredibly upbeat and energetic, and very knowledgeable. He's also super responsive and engaging. I look forward to taking up new challenges with his help!!!

Todd has brought my overtrained body and legs back to a better baseline to do what I love to do! Run! He slowed me down and made me faster. In fact, I won overall female in a 5K with fresher legs than I had had in months! My bike portion has become stronger and he taught me how to swim. Todd loves what he does and it shows by the vast amount of team opportunities he hosts to become stronger, faster and to become more experienced and comfortable. He seems tireless! Something else I appreciate about Todd is his understanding of the needs of the masters athlete, especially the need for recovery time. Todd is diligent to work with a busy working mom's schedule with sometimes last minute changes. He is good with people, patient, compassionate, loyal and challenges you to your edge. He is knowledgeable about gadgets, products and nutrition...yep, I am in good hands! Thanks, Todd!
I have been fortunate enough to know Todd Codish as a coach and as a friend for the past 9 years. I started my triathlon career with Team In Training and Todd was our fearless leader. I bought a pair of goggles, some running shoes and had my moms beach cruiser. I finished Cap Tex and since then, with the help of Todd I have completed 3 full distance ironman events! Todd is an exceptional coach. His use of metabolic testing and lactate testing in combination of his advance knowledge of triathlon results in a fun event. His love for the sport and his clients is so evident in his coaching. He is passionate and really cares about his athletes within sport and as an individual. He is in constant communication following and analyzing as much data as you give him. His work out plans are detailed, tailored to your needs, and easy to follow. There have been plenty of times where I have missed work out, skipped a work out, was too tired to work out, but Todd works with me to refocus and stay the course. He is flexible but holds you accountable. Todd has always helped me meet my goals at a level and pace that I am comfortable with. He pushes me to better and stronger as an athlete and an individual. I'm so blessed to have him as my coach and my friend!
Coach Todd has been an integral part of my triathlon training. His training plans are well thought out and not “cookie cutter”. He listens to your feedback and evaluates how your body reacts to the workouts and changes them as needed. His knowledge of the sport and science combined with his positive attitude makes it easy to trust his gameplan for your training. Todd also gives back what you put in so don’t expect big things if you are not willing to give him 100%. It doesn't matter if you are new to the sport or a veteran, I have no doubt Todd can help you accomplish your goals!
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Todd for several years and recently had the privilege to have him coach me. My journey in endurance sports began with the White Rock Marathon in 2003 and transitioned to long course triathlons in 2007. Along the way I did not use a coach believing my approach produced acceptable results. However, Todd's experience and insights convinced me he could take my fitness to a higher level. Before any blood lactate or VO2 tests, Todd correctly surmised I had a solid base but lacked a sufficient high end. Further he believed I could achieve my goals with much less time invested than the months of 24 hour weeks I had put in leading up the HITS 140.6 in Corpus Christi in February. After Todd performed bike and run lactate and VO2 tests the alchemy began. His knowledge and experience allowed him to correctly analyze the results despite several anomalies. From there he custom tailored a training plan that pushed my lactate threshold further out but more importantly did so with fewer hours utilizing a training plan that put quality ahead of quantity. The culmination of Todd's training plan produced my primary goal: winning the 2012 Redman iron distance triathlon. A week later I almost broke 2 hours in a weather-challenged Olympic distance triathlon. The next weekend I won a 5K on Saturday and placed in the top 10 in the Tyler Rose half marathon the next day. Two weeks later, I completed the Longhorn half iron distance triathlon in under 4:30, where I took second in my age group and qualified for the WTC 70.3 championship. Todd's plan truly lifted me to a new level of fitness (verified by lactate and VO2 tests) and provided time to enjoy life more. As an athlete that eschewed coaches for so long, I enjoyed working with Todd, the results he produced, and look forward to working with him on my next goals.
