More About Coach Ted

I have coached youth soccer, middle school, high school and the United States Air Force. I have coached ages 7-30. I have played and coached for 43 years.

I was recruited out of high school by major universities like Standford and Seattle Pacific University (the reigning national champs). I was league MVP and captain throughout high school. My pursuit of a professional career ended after a major injury; however, I shifted into coaching and was youngest head high school soccer coach at the age of 21. I then joined the Air Force and coached the Air Force team. I have continued to play in coach in Europe for 7 years and have coached at various levels, including middle school, during my military career. I recently retired and thought my experience would be best suited to coach small groups.

I would focus a lot on players touch on the ball as offensive skills. I would also focus heavily on defensive skills by teaching them how to effectively channel and attack the ball. I would also focus on making sure the athletes know how to kick and trap the ball correctly to help develop the correct muscles. During the process the student will develop the correct muscles for properly handling and kicking the ball, which will give them greater power and reduce injuries. I will also focus on accuracy with the ball during static and mobile exercises. Another area of the focus would be increasing the players soccer IQ by working on seeing the whole field and understanding placement. I have exercises to suit the exact needs/wants of the players, but I want to focus on things that coaches teach, not just ball handling techniques (which are mostly offensive)
