More About Coach Taylor

I am currently the Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach for a local high school in Downtown in which I am responsible for the entire program. I am also concurrently the Basketball Director for a local K-8 school in Playa Vista and coach all of their school teams, as well as run their off-season clinics, summer basketball camps, and skill development workouts.

When I am not at one of the schools, I am coaching for the Sports Preparation Institute, in which I co-own, that includes competitive travel teams, skills clinics, camps, and private training. You can check out all the things we do at www.sportsprepi.com or @sportsprepi on Instagram.

I have trained all skill levels from NBA players and overseas professionals to kids that have never stepped foot on a court before.

Growing up in LA, I was one of the top point guards in the region earning numerous accolades. I moved on to play Division I basketball at the University of the Pacific before tearing my ACL (twice). I then transferred to LA Trade Tech and finally ended my playing career with another athletic scholarship to play at University of Nebraska-Kearney.

I am very technical with how I teach because I think having knowledge of the fundamentals and proper footwork are invaluable. I don't just rebound and yell motivating things, I usually guard and walk through what I want done. I work hard during sessions, so I expect the same effort from the player.
