More About Coach Shea

I have been giving private hitting and fielding lessons for over four years to girls who are excited to improve their game. I give lessons to girls at the high school level all the way down to 8 years old. I teach a lot of lefty slappers but I also work with power hitters. I give lessons out of a local high school that lets me use their cages or a public field depending on my client’s location and needs. I am a certified trainer and do speed and agility work with my athletes as well.

I hold multiple records at my high school for hitting (batting average & on base %). I played softball at the Division 1 level at Villanova University. I started all four years in centerfield and made Big East All Academic team all four years. I was a lefty slapper who specialized in drag bunting, soft slapping, chop slapping, power slapping, and hitting away.

You can expect to learn A LOT. I love to break down the swing and build it back up to set up my client for the best success possible. I don’t just work on the physical part of the game, but I also develop the mental side of hitting. Most of my clients are lefty slappers or want to learn how to slap, but I work with power hitters as well. For example, as a new slapper, I start with footwork. Footwork is one of the most important things when slapping so I make sure my client has that down before we move on. Then, I focus on where the hands should be and the pathway to the ball. I start out all my lessons on a tee then work up to front toss with both slappers and hitters. Everything can be changed or modified based on what my client needs most.

I also give fielding lessons.

Coach Shea is an excellent Coach for one on one instruction. My daughter made an immediate connection and responded quickly. I would definitely recommend her.

My daughter had her first session with Coach Shea, and we were really impressed. Definitely booking more sessions.

Based on our first lesson, I think my daughter can get better working with Coach Shea. Abby really responded to Shea because she is young, energetic, positive and knows what she's talking about. Shea was able to make Abby understand things I've been trying to tell her for years. Looking forward to the next lesson.

First impressions says it all! Shea was great with our daughters in breaking down their swings, footwork, hitting lines and mental approach to hitting. My daughters are young and Shea approached hitting at their level. I strongly recommend Shea especially if your daughter is a lefty.
