I was a four year HS baseball player that played where the coach needed me. Mostly in the outfield because I had a good arm. I was always in the lineup because of my hitting. Freshman year I finished with an .863 BA. Did not get to further my career in baseball due to my father had gotten sick. I married had a daughter that started my softball career. From that I trained in the following: * Successful Coaching. 98
* American Sports Education Program 99
* Springfield College Softball Clinic. 01
* Maine Principle Coaches Clinic 02,03,04
* Grand Slam Coaches Clinic. 04
* Maine Softball Coaches Association

As a coach I need to listen to the athletes needs. From that I will ask a ton of questions to get to know you better. Softball is a mental game as well as physical. From that I will study your mannerisms to also see what you need to better yourself. I listen and mold my practice plan to suit that athlete. Only because every athlete is different.

Client Reviews

Coach Scott was very flexible with his ability to meet up for our first lesson. He is extremely personable and you could tell right away he has experience with youth coaching. I watched as my daughter's throw transformed in front of me (within 30 minutes) from the coaching she was getting from him. I would recommend him as a private or group coach to anyone looking to improve their skills, even at the fundamental level of a 10 year old like my daughter. Looking forward to more individualized lessons and group camps.

I am writing this letter in reference of Scott Lovejoy for a softball coaching position. I have known Mr. Lovejoy in various coaching capacities for over two years. I have had the opportunity to observe Mr. Lovejoy in his position as head coach for Central Maine Community College, as a coach at a softball clinic, as the coach of a softball camp, and as a pitching coach for my daughters. One of the first things I noticed about Scott is his love of the game of softball and his true dedication to coaching. He is not a dugout dictator focused on as many wins as possible. Scott respects each player as an individual, with a focus on morale, team, and individual success/growth. That attitude not only awarded him the respect of his players, it also inspired them. As an instructor at Central Maine Community College, I took advantage of many opportunities to observe Coach Lovejoy with the college team in an effort to improve my own coaching skills for youth softball. Coach Lovejoy not only allowed me to observe his coaching strategies and style, he also took time to mentor me as a coach. In his position as head coach for Central Maine Community College, Mr. Lovejoy was dedicated to the success of each player on the team. He focused on capitalizing the strengths of each player and worked with them to improve on their areas of weakness. Coach Lovejoy organized a softball clinic in 2010, which both of my daughters attended. He involved players from the CMCC team. My daughters had a wonderful time, improved their skills, and increased their love of the game. Coach Lovejoy also conducted a week long summer camp for girls. Girls of various capabilities attended the clinic; including some with very little experience (one girl did not even bring a glove). Scott displayed incredible patience with all of the girls and was able to make the experience fun and meaningful for all involved. Coach Lovejoy also coached both of my daughters in pitching. Coach worked with the girls to improve their skills with speed and accuracy. He emphasized the importance of proper warm-ups each and every time they threw. Coach took the time to work with each of the girls on different pitches and to challenge them to improve. He keyed in on and incorporated motivational strategies; one daughter needed structure and the other needed to be challenged. It was very interesting to watch him figure out their needs as players prior to his coaching. After getting to know Coach Lovejoy and witness his evident love of the sport, I highly and unconditionally recommend him for any softball coaching position. His commitment to softball is apparent in his efforts to help every girl on the team succeed. He truly cares about the players and inciting a love of the game in each of them. I truly wish for a coach like Scott as my girls advance to high school and college level.
Coach has worked with both of my daughters and they have learned so much from him. You can tell by watching him coach he loves what he does:
I've learned more from coach in one year than all of the other coaches I've had
