More About Coach Sarah

Currently I am in my sixth year of being head field hockey coach of Monroe Township High School where in 2015 & 2019 I received coach of the year, and lead the program to two Conference & Division championships.

I have coached multiple summer camps and clinics over the past 10 years as well as trained athletes in a one on one environment. I have a coaching certificate as well as heat and concussion training, CPR, first aid, AED, and epipen certification.

I played 4 years of college field hockey at TCNJ, winning the Division III national championship in 2011 and was captain of the 2014 season. I was honored as coach of the year for the Greater Middlesex Conference in 2015 as the head coach of Monroe. I also have experience playing at the club level and have traveled to California and Germany for various tournaments.

Typically in one on on sessions I like to focus on technical skills. I am primarily a forward so dodging around defenders, forcing fouls/corners, and getting quick shots off would be considered my speciality. After a quick warm up I would pass with the athlete varying the speeds and styles of various hits. We would then transition into passing and cutting for the ball while moving down the field. I would then spend time working on drills that would improve the athletes shot (if they were an offensive player). If they wanted to focus on defensive skills I would take on the role of an opponent and we would go over proper defensive positioning in game like situations, and the best techniques to regain possession of the ball.
