More About Coach Sam

I coached collegiate football at Montana State University as well as Iowa State University. I was an assistant coach for quarterbacks and wide receivers at Montana State, and helped Iowa State with a player personnel role for one season. At the high school level, I have helped personally train quarterbacks and frequently attend practices to help coach for my high school team. I have helped athletes at pre teen to college ages and thoroughly enjoying developing skills as a football player to see athletes grow. Ideally I am looking to train middle school or high school athletes. However, I will always be available to train introductory lessons for quarterbacks at younger ages then middle school.

three-year letterwinner at Winter Park High School ... first-team All-Orange County honoree by the Orlando Sentinel ... named first-team All-Central Florida by Orlando Sentinel ... named Central Florida Offensive Player of the Year by Orlando Touchdown Club ... helped lead Winter Park through an unbeaten regular season and to the 6A regional semifinals ... set school passing yards and passing touchdowns records by throwing for 2,742 yards and 34 touchdowns along with running for 590 yards and five touchdowns. earned invitations to the Central Florida All-Star game and Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-Star Football Classic ... during summer of 2010, led Winter Park to a 44-1 record in 7-on-7 tournaments, including a title at the Florida Premier 7s

ended career second in TD passes (45), third in passing yards (6,050), third in total offense (7,072), third in completions (549) and sixth in completion percentage (57.0) in the Iowa State record book.
In 2014 as a Junior:
set the school record for completions in a season with 254 … became just the third QB in ISU history to with over 3,000 yards of total offense in a season (3,090), ranking 25th nationally in total offense … threw for 2,669 yards, completing 254-of-451 of his passes (56.3 pct.) … his 2,669 passing yards is the fourth-best single-season total in school history, ranking 34th nationally in passing yards per game (242.6) … completed 18 TD passes, two shy from the school record and third-best in school history … second on the team in rushing with 421 yards and three TDshad three 300-yard passing games, including a career-high 351 yards and three TDs vs. Toledo … established the top-two single-game completion marks in school history with 37 vs. Toledo and 36 vs. Texas … had 345 yards passing and three TDs vs. Texas … rushed for 99 yards on 14 carries, including a 47-yard TD run, vs. Baylor … threw for 304 yards on 24-of-38 passing and two TDs vs. Texas Tech … completed 14-straight passes vs. Kansas State.

Quarterbacks in particular can expect me to walk them through routines that I have grown up using to hone my throwing skills.
Initially we will warm up and focus on our throwing mechanics, walking through several different drills to focus on arm motion, positioning, and footwork to zero in on good habits to get yourself ready to compete. Once analyzing where an athlete stands in his development of throwing the football I will coach them accordingly on where I feel they will benefit. If a quarterbacks will benefit the most of arm strengthening drills we will work on engaging core and shoulder exercises and workouts to benefit them the most. If a quarterback will benefit the most from footwork and body placement in their drops or throwing technique we will walk through and critique each and every step in a 3 step or 5 step drop to benefit them in their timing and consistency as a thrower of the football.
Ideally we would train with two quarterbacks at a time for me to be able to analyze while they throw to each other.
However, one on one time can be very beneficial to younger athletes and I will be able to help just as much while still throwing to them as well.

From the looks of our first session with Coach Sam, we have found the coach our son needs to improve his QB game! Coach Sam is easy to work with, knowledgeable, and we are looking forward to many more sessions. You will not be disappointed by having Coach Sam working with your child!

Excellent experience!! He pays attention to detail and he’s very hands on!

Zach was not initially interested in this. Asked me if I could get my money back. But, after the session he was all for it. Had s great time and liked how you encouraged him. I also noticed the improvement. Thanks coach!!

Coach Sam is a great Coach for my 9 year old son. My son has only played in rec leagues so there has been little QB instruction. As long as you can throw the ball you can be QB. So Sam is teaching him the QB footwork, drills and accuracy that I hope my son will continue to remember and practice. Coach Sam is super nice, kind and patient and you can tell that he has a lot of fun coaching. We are looking forward to more sessions!

Sam Is doing an outstanding job with my son. He is implementing things he has never learned and have a blast learning! Great coach!

My son and I met with Coach Sam today for a mid-season workout/tune-up session. He was great to work with, very knowledgeable and my son (high school freshman) really enjoyed learning from him. Because Sam has played QB at a high level he was able to explain “why” instead of just “how”. We are looking forward to many sessions with Coach Sam in the future and really recommend him to anyone.

Excellent session. The entire session was well organized and focused on areas that our young athlete needed for consistency and accuracy. Coach Sam is really good at coaching the fundamentals. I saw immediate improvement.

Within the first 15 minutes of working with Coach Sam, my 10 year-old son was in the zone. Coach Sam is great with kids and an absolute, natural coach. Zero time was wasted getting to know my son, why he plays football and why he loves playing QB. From there, they went right into drills, proper technique, passing routes, etc. I would say we learned more from our 1-hour session with Coach Sam than we did playing Pop Warner this year. My son can't wait for the next sessions we have scheduled. Thanks Coach Sam!

It was a pleasure to meet Coach Sam. We took a chance booking him as he is new to coach up and had no reviews yet. We were not disappointed! He brought a wealth of knowledge about football and especially the mechanics at the quarterback position. You can tell immediately that he has played at the highest level. My son learned a great deal in 1 short hour. Coach Sam was sociable and kind and my son took right to his instruction.
I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for an outstanding coach!
