More About Coach Ron

I have coached some of the top middle school players at the Kips Bay Boy & Girls Club in New York City. Also, assisted training sessions for athletes at the Pan Pacific Recreation Center in Los Angeles on the development of their skills and basketball IQ with regimented drills. The typically age group varied 8 to 16 years old.

I've been playing basketball since the age of 8-years old in the Bronx, New York. I started at Kips Bay Boy & Girls Club. Eventually, I played with The New York Gauchos Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) basketball program and with The Madison Square Broncos AAU team. I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where we won our conference championship in 1985 and received and automatic bid to NCAA Tournament and played against the number 1 seed, Michigan, and lost by 4 points. I completed my collegiate level, played all 4 years. Playing basketball in New York City, I received the opportunity to play against and with NBA players, semi-pros and some of just the most talent street players in the world.

A client can expect me to build their weakness to strengths. I will assess and discuss the areas they need to improve.

Depending on your skill level and what we need to focus on we would start with something like:
- Warm drills (stretching, suicide drill, wind sprints, jogging, ladder exercises, explosive jump training etc. )
- Dribbling drills: ( Dribbling around cones, dribbling with two ball, change of speed, dribble with tennis balls etc.)
- Jump shot drills: (Shooting Mechanics, mid-range shot, off the dribble shots, stand still shots, level of focus etc.)
- Footwork drills: (jab steps, triple threat position, pump fakes)
- Passing drills: (chest pass, bounce pass, overhead pass,)

The key is to increase your skill level and basketball IQ. My training sessions are all contingent on what is needed for YOUR improvement. Example, if you have a weak left hand dribble our training session will be set specifically to build that area of your game.
