More About Coach Ron

I have coached for over 30 years at the high school level, the college level, and at the professional level. I coached the defensive line for the Arizona Cardinals for six seasons, including the team that competed in the Super Bowl. I was also the defensive line coach for the Oregon Ducks in the inaugural FBS Championship game. Prior to those teams, I coached for the Iowa Hawkeyes, San Diego State University, the University of Texas, Vanderbilt University, and the University of New Mexico along with a few other teams. I began my career as a high school coach and, over the course of my career, I have worked with individuals ranging in age from 15-30.

I was an All Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference lineman, serving as Captain for my team in my senior year of college. I was a three-year starter at North Carolina A&T University, known for my work ethic and grit. I was selected to my high school and my college Hall of Fame.

I am a Master Teacher of the fundamentals of defensive line and outside linebacker play. I am a stickler for the details because I believe it is the little things that separate good linemen from great linemen. A typical session would consist of 5 minutes of Stretching followed by 10 minutes of Warm-up Position Drills. After the position drills, there would be 30 minutes of Technique Drills (i.e. proper footwork, eye-hand reaction, getting off blocks, angle of pursuit to the football). The session would conclude with 15 minutes of Key React Drills, working on the run and the pass.
