More About Coach Rod

Fundamentally based, knowledgeable and affordable sports conditioning & performance training for the developing and experienced athlete. I have over 20 years experience in coaching and training athletes. I coach youth to high school levels, as well as train college athletes during the off-season. My age group ranges from age 5 - 20. I am a member of the National Federation of High School Associations. I have certifications in: USA Football, First Aid/CPR, The Brand X Method

I was a 4-yr Football & 3-yr Track Letterman in High school. Played college football at Southern University-BR and Portland State University. I played Arena Football for the Portland Prowlers. Played Semi-Pro/Minor league football for the Oregon Thunderbolts. I coached the Alberta Park Panthers to several city championships in the Portland Youth Football League. Coached High school football at Madison High (Portland, OR) for 4 years, and served as their Youth football coordinator. Currently have been coaching youth football in Houston, TX, since relocating here 6 years ago.

A typical workout begins with a meet & greet. As the client is pre-warmup, we discuss some points of performance for the workout, as well as how the day has been. The client does two laps to warmup, we stretch, do some dynamic stretches and a mini-workout emphasizing what our main workout of the day will be. I teach technique exercises I want to implement for the day, we work on it, then we get into the full workout. We'll also focus on target skill area for the sport & position they play. Have a review and feedback cool down at the conclusion of our workout.

Client Reviews

Coach Rod does a great job breaking down QB and WR positions. My sons are 10 & 9 and they are currently playing up on a 12-11U flag football team. I was concerned that they would not have an opportunity to start or play at all. However, after the three days of training my boys did with Coach Rod, helped elevate their game and they both made a great impression on both the coaches and the team. The boys finally realized that with all the hard work they did with Coach Rod paid-off. Coach Rod definitely worked my boys hard but kept fun and exciting. Thank you Coach Rod! From Mason and Manny.

Coach Rod did a great job. He watched my son for a little bit, talked to him, and immediately determined what he needed to work on. My son left very excited and ready to come back.

Coach Rob was great! My son was very excited and comfortable with his session. His knowledge and coaching skills are excellent! Looking forward to continuing with more sessions and helping my son improve and advance.
