More About Coach Nick

Supervised and trained children, grades 3rd through 12th, to enhance their basketball and/or lacrosse skills. Also, volunteered with the Loyola Men’s Lacrosse Team to provide free lacrosse clinics to schools and programs around Baltimore. Third, my lacrosse team at Loyola also did a clinic with the Helen Keller School of the deaf and blind in Portugal this past summer. Finally, I helped coach the youth at my high school in local tournaments for both basketball and lacrosse.

My first year of college I played Division 1 basketball at Siena College in Albany, NY. My team and I competed in the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and participated in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) post-season tournament. A couple games that stood out on our schedule were our first two at Duke and at Wisconsin. As a walk-on my freshman year I earned minutes in 10 games, some games subbing in in the first half. I transferred to Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore for my last three years of college. I played Division 1 lacrosse there, where we won many games. My senior year we ranked #1 in the country for a couple weeks during the regular season and throughout my career we made it to the NCAA tournament three times, including two Patriot League Championships. We dedicated 40+ hours per week to a rigorous academic, competition, practice and training schedule to achieve team and personal goals on the field.

During my sessions, I would like to focus mainly on the skill set of the athlete. I love to answer any questions or address any problems the athlete may have to begin with. For example, if an athlete comes to me saying he/she wants more work in the pick and roll game, I can tailor our drills more towards that, so the athlete gets the most out of our training sessions. I find it very important that basketball players have multiple ways that they can score and have several different moves in their pocket. Basketball players who can just shoot 3s or can only drive to the basket will begin to struggle once their defenders figure that out. I want my athletes to start developing as many ways to score as possible, that way when you get in a game your defender can't telegraph what you are going to do. Once an athlete has a variety of different scoring options they can use the three "moves" that they like the best in games to score efficiently. Finally, I am open to any questions about basketball, college sports, recruiting or anything that comes to mind that the athlete or parent(s) have.
