More About Coach Mo

Coached Cornell University Sparring team to first National Collegiate Championship.
Coached Yellow belts from my school Mo Kwon Do (Google it) to win 1st place at the largest tournament in NYC against red belts and black stripes - an unheard of achievement.

I've been teaching children ages 4+ building confidence in their identity, and helping them establish what they want, and what their boundaries are with energy and positivity.

I've trained adults in their mid thirties looking to blow off steam and become stronger boxers / fighters with no experience to 5+ years experience in Muay Thai and other disciplines. They have lost 10+ pounds, and have gone from chunky flab to looking better than they have in their twenties. It took years, it took a lot of hard work, and it took scientifically backed change, but they were able to do it and so can you.

I can get you to achieve your goals.

I have nurtured students from their first kick, to their first competition, on to their National title. I have created martial arts programs in countries across the world - bringing tenants of self-respect, confidence, discipline, and hard work ethic to students of all backgrounds and ages - teaching in elementary schools, churches, orphanages, homes, colleges, and in parks. Whether it be learning a new skill, learning to defend yourself or others, learning to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations, or having the confidence to stand up for yourself: I have had the privilege of teaching children and adults alike to strive for better. Wherever there's a student who earnestly wants to learn, I have gladly given my all to help them achieve their vision.

I have been teaching Taekwondo for all ages, experience levels, and training goals. I have brought an enthusiastic college team to win multiple tournaments, with two collegiate titles and two National level titles. I currently train toddlers, children, teens and adults, working with different styles in order to develop body confidence, self-discipline, respect, and high caliber athletic performance. I have a National level Kukkiwon grade 2nd Don Black belt and train and teach on a daily basis. I am energetic, personable, and very enthused about the sport and martial art Taekwondo.

2x Nat'l Tae Kwon Do Sparring Champion.
3x NYC Marathon finisher with sub 4 hr time.
Varsity Athletics throughout high school.
I can touch my toes, do a full split, and can get you there with enough time.

I am a two time National Collegiate Championship 1st Place sparring champion. Cornell University Sport Taekwondo Team Sparring practice leader. During my two years as the practice leader we won the ECTC (Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference) Championships both years and the Collegiate National Championships. I have learned from the best while studying in Seoul, Korea, and have learned from US National Team coaches. I instruct proper lifting mechanics, agility, strength and conditioning workouts, have run the NYC marathon in sub 4 hour time and am actively training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Tae Kwon Do.

What are your goals?
What have you done to achieve them?
What has prevented you from achieving your goals?
What is your diet like?

Then from there a personal training plan to achieve those goals. Every session is different for everyone - specific to their needs.

Instruction varies dependent on students age, experience, ability and the individual. Generally like to align with the students parent or the athlete on their goals.

Rough idea: younger ages 3-5 we work on coordination, balance, movement, and relationship with exercise.
Ages 5-7 Learning self defense, confidence, sparring and technique basics and intermediate skill development.
Ages 8+ Full Mo Kwon Do sparring focused curriculum. Expect to learn a strong Tae Kwon Do sparring curriculum, boxing and standing and ground grappling fundamentals.

Teens and Adults: We focus on your specific goals, whether training to be competition ready at the National level, in shape, faster, stronger, or just really learn a martial art in a practical and intensive way, I can help you get there.

My coaching philosophy and session plans are focused on the individual and their goals. You can expect warm ups, stretches, technique learnings, active drilling, and controlled sparring, with variations to learn boxing and grappling fundamentals.

All ages you will have fun, get exercise, and really learn something. Life is short: give you or yours the best instruction possible.

Perfect Coach for any situation.

Mo is a great coach - he doesn't just go through the motions, but really pays attention to my physical and mental goals. Just knowing he's with me as I try to get back to health makes me feel focused and confident.

Great attention to detail and catered lesson to my ability

Coach Mo is great with my son. He really enjoyed the lesson. I will continue working with Coach Mo.

Coach Mo was excellent. He was patient, clear and supportive of the process I was learning. I recommend him highly.

Had an amazing session with Coach Mo. He has this very positive energy around him which helps one tremendously with their training. He is very motivational and inspiring. I would highly recommend him.

Great first class!

Although I'm new to the field, it was obvious to me after working with Mo for a short while that he is an extremely talented Taekwondo artist. His movements are graceful and steady, his punches/kicks fast and powerful. Beyond these physical attributes, he's very knowledgeable in both Taekwondo and the human body. We had a running dialogue through the session and he was able to explain various concepts effectively and simply. Overall, he has a direct and pragmatic teaching style which I appreciated. I also liked that we began with a discussion of my goals and he tailored the class to fit them. I suggest him highly to anyone looking to learn Taekwondo. I certainly plan to train with him more.
I couldn't ask for a better instructor. As someone who has no background in martial arts, Mo has been attentive to my needs to keep things well balanced, clearly instructed, well paced and fun. I have been learning and developing my skills at a strong steady pace, being pushed to do more while never feeling pressured. I'm smiling and sweating from the first minute to the last. Thank you coach Mo!!
