More About Coach Miranda
I have been playing soccer for the last 27 years and coaching for the last 15. I have worked as an academy director (u6-u11), director of technical training (u9-u14) and as a head coach for all ages (u8-u18).
I have my USSF C license, my education is in exercise science: adult fitness and human performance, I am currently getting my doctorate in physical therapy. I also hold my CSCS one of the highest certifications in the strength and conditioning field. I am well qualified to assist in conditioning, speed and the fitness and injury aspects of the game.
I have played competitive and semi professional soccer.
I grew up playing elite soccer in Colorado. My teams competed in state cup and showcase tournaments typically on the west coast. My club was ran by the head coach of the University of Colorado women's soccer team, Bill Hempen. We got to train with college athletes, talk with other coaches and get fully involved in the college selection and recruitment process.
Unfortunately I missed out on college due to a severe ankle injury that ended my career. Current indoor player, CrossFit athlete and weekend warrior. Sports have given me so much joy through out my life and I love helping others experience the same.
I always include touch drills to begin i.e. juggling, ball manipulation, receiving to warm the body and brain up.
Because I am a certified strength and conditioning coach, I often will add an element of speed/agility or strength training. If the athlete needs to focus on a certain mechanic with out the ball we will, as soon as form has improved we work this element on ball.
Finally I finish with a goal- this can be a big goal- shooting, or small goals (balls to a designated area).
Typically I run my session in 3 or 4 stations unless the athlete is older and can focus on one technique for longer.
